Nancy Drew 2x02 Thoughts
The Reunion of the Lost Souls
Good episode. There was a lot I liked about it.
+ I loved George going to Nick's mom and her little speech about who she was and how that made her a good fit for Nick. Mrs. Nickerson calling her "Vicious" in an almost affectionate way when they arrived at the bar was great and I loved her teaching George how to make Nick's favourite dish.
+ I was very pleased that the show didn't go the route of having Mrs. Nickerson dislike George and like Nancy and want Nick/Nancy instead, and George having to also overcome that.
+ I loved George figuring out how to help Nick by remembering how to bring Mack out of the mirror.
+ I loved that small second of reaction - the surprised smile - from George when Nick immediately introduced her as his girlfriend. It made me think of how she was Ryan's dirty little secret and have different things are for her now.
+ I liked the scene when Nancy casually offers Nick her couch and how that played out. Nancy was super distracted and threw it out because he's her friend, meanwhile in the background George and Nick are having a little freak out.
+ I liked how low-key the dating reveal and Nancy's reaction to it was. I was definitely expecting more drama there and I liked that it was skipped.
+ I liked Nancy offering to run interference with Nick's mom. I love when the group has each others' back like that.
+ The little Ace/Carson side plot was very sweet. I liked Ace asking for Carson's side of the story and bringing him a food care package and then getting odds and ends that he knew Carson would like from the Claw. But I also really liked that he didn't take sides between Carson and Nancy. He didn't give Carson any information about Nancy and he didn't push Nancy on how she should talk to Carson.
+ I like that Ace is apparently on leave from work to avoid his death by hook fate - smart move - or at least it would be if he wasn't constantly there anyway! Pepperment coffee is not worth the chance of death, Ace!
+ Ace crossed-arm pout over his mom changing over the library from record to cd was kind of adorable.
+ I liked how the show tied in the various ghosts we saw over the course of season one back into the Aglaeca curse.
+ I'd actually forgotten that Bess was living with Nancy and I love that they're still roommates.
+ How the heck did Nancy and Bess sleep through Mack destroying the kitchen?
+ Still no dealing with Owen's death even though it literally happened days ago. Meh.
+ I do not buy Mrs. Nickerson leaving when she knows her son is under a death curse.
