Nancy Drew 2x09 Thoughts
The Bargain of the Blood Shroud
+ I get why Gil would so desperately need to know what happened to his mother. Not knowing is probably the worst part. But being willing to murder someone to get those answers is so wrong. It's almost unforgivable. I can get Nancy being overly sympathetic, she has her own parental mystery bad decisions, so her feeling like she understands him makes sense to me. But I'm going to need some serious regret on his part and an active redemption mini-plot for him trying to murder George before he and Nancy actually get together.
+ I find it even more unforgivable because it's so stupid. 'He'll make him', seriously? That's his plan for getting the 'truth' out of him? Beating him up and torturing him until he confesses? A man who has said nothing for 14 years, who in this scenario would have just cheated death. It's such a dumb ass plan. To start with he knows freaking Nancy Drew so why didn't he approach her first about solving it for him? And even if that didn't work a better plan might have been to start looking for supernatural objects that could actually help - by revealing truths, or finding lost things, or seeing past events. It was just dumb with a topping of murder.
+ Considering all the supernatural creatures Nancy and the others have met I'm surprised that we didn't get a hint of Nancy considering that Rosemary was haunted by some creature rather than simply being mentally ill. It's Nancy Drew, she is 100% being haunted by something and I'm sure it'll come back up at a later date.
+ The Ace/Nancy scene was really great. I loved him gently reminding her that she shouldn't trust Gil, telling her because he knows her and then her returning how she knows him too. There was absolutely no reason for the two of them to be so close during that scene but I loved it. I loved the way they looked at each other. I am apparently still super aboard this ship because this scene made me ridiculously pleased.
+ I loved George backing Nancy's plan, trusting her and putting her life in Nancy's hands.
+ The Carson/Bess scenes were lovely. I loved that upon seeing her breaking down Carson decided to stay there to work, his successful plan to get her up and active and then his good advice for her. It was just really nice all around. I am really enjoying Carson going around and dading everyone this season. More of that please.
+ Ace spending the night with Bess was really sweet.
+ Nancy choosing not to look for Rosemary because she wasn't asked to felt a little like character growth. Sometimes not investigating a mystery is probably the right choice.
+ You know, random thought, but what if Bess/Odette happened? If they fell in love that could make a really weird but maybe weirdly fun love quadrangle.
