I enjoyed it.
I'm not entirely sure that this whole inversion thing makes sense and some of how it played out onscreen was confusing and/or silly looking, though at other times it did look pretty cool.
I loved the reveal at the end that the Protagonist (and everyone else) were actually working for a future version of the Protagonist who spear-headed the whole thing to save the past from the future.
I always love in timey-wimey plots when one character met another in their past but the current version doesn't know them so the reveal about the Protagonist and Neil was excellent. Loved it. The Protagonist's reaction when he realises the truth was great. I enjoyed going back and rewatching some of their scenes with this new information - in their introduction Neil's reactions to Protagonist looks very different.
Neil's "what's happened happened" feels different knowing that he dies at the end, and dies having known this whole time that he was going to die there.
I liked the Protagonist and Kat's interactions. It's a small thing but I love that the movie didn't try and disguise how much taller Kat was than him, and in fact even stuck her in heels.
I loved how that final scene with Kat and Sator played out. I loved that the woman younger!Kat saw dive off the yacht and envied the freedom of ended up being herself - a version of her that just won her freedom. I loved that so much. I loved that future!Sator died on that yacht that day and no one knew, not even Sator, his body lost to the sea. I loved that Kat made sure he knew that he'd lost when he died instead of giving him the mercy of dying while thinking he'd won. I loved how it replayed the earlier scene when she turned a gun on him except this time she doesn't end it cowering in fear and pain on the floor.
I liked how the Protagonist giving Kat the phone for emergencies played out at the end with him cleaning up loose ends. I wonder if he would have killed Priya if she hadn't tried to have Kat killed?
It didn't work for me that Priya was there at the attempt on Kat's life. There was no reason for it.
I liked that the Protagonist lied about where he left the case because that was standard operating procedure and he knew Kat would be shot regardless. I like his mix of caring/wanting to do right but also being ruthless and what's necessary to reach his goals.
I liked that the arms dealer was actually Priya not Sanjay.
A lot of the action pieces were fun.
I guess the Protagonist was fighting himself in Oslo so that wasn't a surprise. I figured he also saved himself at the opera so it being Neil I didn't realise until things started playing out in Russia.
