Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Episode 5 - Truth
+ Bucky feeling responsibility for his actions as the Winter Soldier makes 100% sense but I still don't think he does bare much responsibility for them. He was a prisoner, a weapon, a tool. It may have been his body doing all the killing and mayhem but it wasn't him. So him wanting to try and make it right by stopping those he enabled as TWS and by helping those who were affected makes sense but I also feel like it's not required. Him doing it mainly for himself, to try and overcome his demons and nightmares and guilt, is a good enough reason in my opinion. I don't actually think this is a situation where he does need to "do the work" because, while he may be working for it, he doesn't actually need redemption.
That said Sam's advice was good because how Bucky's been proceeding doesn't seem to be entirely working for him. And Sam doesn't know it but he hit the situation with Yori right on the head. Bucky telling Yori the truth about his son's death probably would help his more than weekly lunches.
+ I love that the favour Bucky asked Ayo for was for Sam, that Bucky stayed to help Sam with the boat and their bonding at the end was great.
+ Sam mastering the shield is more impressive than Steve or Bucky because he isn't a super soldier. I liked his training sequence.
+ The Bucky/Zemo scene was great. I loved everything with how that played out. I also thought it showed that Bucky was learning and changing.
+ I really enjoy Bucky and Ayo's interactions and really want to know more about their friendship and his relationship with the rest of the Dora Milaje.
+ I trust Val absolutely not at all. I don't know what flavour of probable evil she is - corrupt politician, hydra, something else - but I am side-eyeing her hard.
+ 'the shield is a grey area'. From what we've seen I think it's mostly the property of the Stark family, no? Howard Stark created it who then lent it to Captain America (and thus became a symbol connected to him). Tony took it back in Civil War and Steve didn't fight to keep it and then returned it to Steve post-Snap. Steve gave it to Sam and maybe died. Yeah, fairly grey but still probably the property of the Stark family. It's too bad Gwyneth Paltrow is never going to do the MCU again because I'd love a Pepper cameo over this.
