Killing Eve 4x07 Thoughts

Making Dead Things Look Nice

+ Konstantin's death scene was honestly wonderful. I loved how it all played out. It was really sad because I loved him but it wasn't unexpected. I very much doubted he was going to survive the series and it also seemed pretty certain that one of the women in his life would be the death of him. This was probably one of the better options for his death even if it was completely unnecessary - if he'd simply started with how Helene's death gave them the opportunity to be free! A part of me can't help but wonder if Irina's induction as an assassin for The 12 killed his will to live? That despite what he was saying to Pam he guessed Helene's order and wanted to die? Maybe just subconsciously.

Regardless, I loved that he was genuinely trying to protect Pam, to save her like he couldn't save Villanelle or Irina, and the sincerity and compassion he showed to her. I liked that Pam did care in return and was distraught at his death. I liked that he was at peace with his death. I like that she made him look good afterwards.

+ Poor Pam. Just ouch all around.

+ I really love how unflappable Carolyn usually is and how well she's able to bullshit her way out of potential danger. Her casual disregard during her scene with Vlad was great.

+ Was the bird guy really an assassin or was Carolyn using him to get out of the situation with Vlad? At first I took her words at face value but thinking about it, and thinking of that confused look he had as he was led away, makes me lean to the latter. In which case, that was cold Carolyn!

+ Konstantin having a letter prepared for Carolyn, his last message being for her, to tell her he always loved her, has finally converted me into liking this tragic romance. She was able to move past him being the cause of her father's death and she didn't kill him for her son's death, and now we learn that love was apparently returned this entire time? So tragic and sad and I am here for it. I need to see Pam delivering that message now.

+ I loved the return of Irina but at the same time it's leaving me anxious. It was so clear from that phone call how jealous Irina is of Villanelle and her relationship with Konstantin, and now with his death that's only going to be amplified. With the two of them on a collision course I'm worried the show is going to end with Villanelle being killed by Irina.

+ I liked Eve's flashback to her life before everything in the series. It was nice to see Bill and Elena again.

+ I liked that Konstantin's final scene with Eve involved him sending her to Villanelle. It felt like him trying to do his best for them too.

+ Villanelle's 'ha ha' as she ran out of the cabin - lol.

Overall I've enjoyed this latter half of the season so much more than the first half. I realise there was a lot of set up in those first four episode (which I didn't even dislike) but I think a lot of it could have been dropped or compressed. The pacing just feels very off. It would be so much more exciting if there was more than one episode left.
