Chapter 4: The Foundling'

This season is so fun.

I'm really enjoying the zany nonsense and this episode's three men and a baby plot was really fun. But I'm also enjoying the larger more serious side plot too so it's a win all around.

+ The initial Yeon/Rang distaste and complete lack of common sense re: Mi-ho was hilarious. My favourite gag is how Rang would say something ridiculous regarding her and then Yeon would disagree/rebuke him, seemingly like a normal person, only to immediately follow it up with something just as ridiculous. See:

Yeon: What should we do?
Rang: Let's discreetly get rid of her.
Yeon: We can't do that. (pause, thinks) What about casually losing her?

LOLOL! Or:

When Mi-ho starts crying Rang demands she stop and say what she wants, Yeon scoffs that won't work but then tries bribing her with money. Rang smilingly grabs a lamp and suggests they hit her and again Yeon scoffs because 'it'll kill her' and then suggests that they give her opium or sleeping pills instead. It made me laugh so much. They're ridiculous.

+ I really liked the short more serious scene between Yeon and Rang, where seeing Yeon with Mi-ho had Rang questioning if that's how Yeon had been with him and then the two of them discussing their father.

+ The bubble-filled lighthearted musical montage of Yeon and Rang happily beating the corrupt cops together was so good. Brotherly bonding! And made happy and PG to make it appropriate for the watching baby, heh.

+ I liked Yeon and Hong-ju a lot this episode. I loved so much Yeon refusing to pretend to like Hong-joo because he knows her feeling are real and she's his friend, he won't lie to her like that. I loved that Yeon collected the snakeberries for Hong-ju because he knew how much she loved them. I liked their question game.

Getting a little more of look into why Hong-ju is so laser focused on Yeon despite his disinterest was also nice. In a life of constant battle "when I'm with him I feel comforted" is something. Emotions are important. I can understand why she'd glomp on the one (?) person who brings her the most comfort.

+ Rang + kids continues to be a winning combination.

+ Yeon with Mi-ho was also pretty fun. I especially loved how offended he gets when people do things around the baby he doesn't think appropriate - shooting is a no-no and gets you beating up, smoking is a bowl of water, swearing is a nope too (Yeon mouthing a swear in return lol.)

+ Yeon and Rang getting trapped in baby hell because she keeps returning no matter where they leave her, heee.

+ Yeon talking like Shin-joo doesn't already have a kid at home that he's raising really irritated me. Yes, Soo-oh isn't a baby but it's not that different. I was just very annoyed with him on Shin-joo's behalf. Also I don't know why Yeon isn't considering Mi-ho as a possible person to help Rang have a family. He knows how close Rang was to Soo-oh.

+ Yeon and Shin-joo's glee over Yeo-hee and teasing Rang together was a delight. I love how much they cracked each other up over it. Them planning Rang's wedding, heh.

+ Rang likes people who are stronger then him. Hmm.

+ Jae-yoo has a tiny role thus far but I like his loyalty and devotion to Hong-joo.

+ 'Lee Yeon's Victim's Club', LOL. But also good for them for coming together to support each other.

+ I liked the Taluipa/Moo-young confrontation. His anger over her abandonment, her telling him that he's the one who decided to play the villain and shouldn't be hurt how they react to that, him being threatening after she leaves only to discover that she's started the process of turning him to stone again.

+ I liked the closeness between Hyunuiong and Hong-joo, and him helping her through her stint in ice hell (an apparently regular thing, good for her!)

+ Even though she's not in this series I do like that Ji-Ah still has a presence. Yeon is unwavering in his loyalty, he thinks about and worries for her and wants to return home to her. His offence over the name compatibility test because he and Ji-Ah only got 25% amused me.

+ Yeon being clever enough to realise with Hong-joo's first question that she's testing him but then wastes his first question by establishing that she met with the red/white masked man even though he basically already knew that.

+ I'm surprised that Shin-joo wasn't more interested in Yoo-ri's look a like. Though his happiness at their reunion starting with her pointing a gun at him made me smile.
