+ I was very invested in the wtf mystery of who all these people were and why they were showing up. It essentially being 'aliens' kind of cracks me up, tbh. Outer solar system meteorite buried beneath a volcano causing the appearance of people that those around have unresolved issues with. Maybe. I mean based on what happened it seems a pretty fair theory. I also like how it ties back to superstitions and folk myths of changlings.
+ I liked the look and feel of the show.
+ My favourite part was Magnea saving Magnea. Her escaping Gísli, calling him "you piece of shit" and then driving off with her older self was fucking delightful. The two of them holding hands and then smilingly driving into the ash cloud was also lovely. I'm overall happy where this plot went. I love that younger!Magnea was there for herself not for Gísli.
+ I was very sad with Ása death and I really didn't think it was necessary. Of course judging by younger Gunhild's disappearance possibly she was never meant to last but I wanted her to take this opportunity to have a second chance at life.
+ Grima's end I didn't find as uplifting as perhaps I was meant to. I'm glad that she found some peace over her sister's death and even a bit with her mother's death. I'm glad that she made the choice that she wanted to fight for her life. But also this huge thing happened to her and her husband is over here going 'lalala' missing literally everything! The farcical missing of his two wives situation was pretty funny but also a little infuriating. And now there will always be this big secret between them.
But that said I am happy she's playing the piano again and has a new brother to get to know and perhaps a new start with her dad and husband.
+ As soon as Gísli had that moment contemplating raping his unconscious wife before seeing the cross and leaving I was done with him. Care-taking is really hard especially if you're mainly on your own but that sympathy only goes so far. Thoughts aren't a crime but his little delusional God nonsense reaction to younger Magnea was that step. His comeuppance was great. Beyond losing the Magneas' Einar beating down his father before leaving him in disgust, completely done with him was enjoyable to watch.
+ A small thing but the fact that Magnea didn't seem to have a pad of paper of her own to communicate with bothers me looking back.
+ I wasn't super impressed with how Thor dealt with the appearances of two Gunhilds. The awkwardness of his interactions with older Gunhild and him wanting to fall into the dream younger Gunhild offered were certainly understandable but also: dude. Plus the whole affair/abortion thing, and him apparently not being there for his girls weren't great. Only then he learned the truth about Gunhild's pregnancy and immediately went to her to relieve her of her guilt/burden and that was great. Plus I liked the cats.
+ All I could think during the russian roulette scene was: why the heck are they doing it in the freshly painted and redone living room? They're going to get blood on the curtains! Also Grima is lucky her doppelganger's body is probably going to disappear because it was terribly hidden.
+ I enjoyed that short bit we got with Grima, Rakel and Darri communicating and working through what was happening together. I wish we'd gotten more of that.
+ The whole Mikael plot was very harrowing. I felt for both Darri and Rakel in dealing with it and I'm glad that there's an implication that it not only gave them some peace but that it also allowed them to find their way back to each other. But at the same time I'm head-desking at them. It was inadvertent but their nonsense led to the deaths of two innocent people.
+ I'm a bit amused that we have the two scientist doing their jobs and completely missing all the craziness.
+ Way too much animal death for me.
