I enjoyed it.
+ I liked the opening with the would-be Ghostface killers and then the twist of them being murdered by the real Ghostface.
+ The Sam/Tara bond continues to be wonderful. I loved them. I loved their initial conflict and the ride-or-die-ness of their relationship. I love this undercurrent that it's Tara, and Sam's love and loyalty to her, that keeps Sam sane and non-murderous.
I loved that moment at the end where Tara is seemingly shocked and disapproving of Sam's wild stabbing of Wayne but then we get them sharing a look and Tara giving Sam her silent support in killing him, and it was great.
+ I was really bothered by the way certain characters just seemed to shrug off stabbings. Mindy got stabbed in the arm and gut and was walking around? Chad got stabbed a dozen times and is still conscious? I don't mind him surviving but stopping to chat with the others? No. Most egrarious of all was Tara who got stabbed in the shoulder and then also got stabbed in the gut and you would never guess by the final scenes of the movie. She has her arm up in a sling and walks off into the sunset with her sister, wtf? No. It hit my suspension of disbelief hard. It was just in no way realistic.
+ Gale telling Ghostface to hold and their bewildered 'huh?' made me laugh so hard.
+ I appreciate overall how Gale handled Ghostface. Her using the phone to track them, her going for the kill with the knife when they were seemingly unconscious, her grabbing the knife at the end, the whole chase and fight in her apartment. But that said she made some very clear mistakes the he biggest of which was her leaving her bedroom instead of calling the police and keeping watch on the door with her gun.
+ I love that Kirby survived her movie. Did we learn that at the end of 4? I don't remember that so it was a great surprise. I really liked her bonding with Tara and Mindy. I'd love to get Mindy/Kirby in the next movie.
+ Mindy being mad because she got it wrong again amused me.
+ The whole 'core four' thing was super sweet. I actually really love all four of them and their friendships.
+ Nice to see Billy still haunting Sam. I loved those scenes. I am so curious about where the franchise is going with all these implications that Sam is a killer at heart. Personally I'd buy her going murderous vigilante more than becoming Ghostface. Or I guess a Ghostface who specifically targets other killers like how this movie started.
+ Chad/Tara were cute.
+ Sam's psychiatrist's reaction to her finally opening up made me suspicious and I immediately clocked him as a potential killer. In fact his expression when she talked about Richie made me wonder if he was actually Richie's dad. I'm a little amused that I got the right motivation, just the wrong person.
+ It felt like a lot more deaths than usual in this one. Three randoms got offed in the Bodega! Anika's death was terrible. I was expecting her guts to hang out and was really shocked that she even made it onto the ladder.
+ I was sad not to see Syd, and I hope she shows up in future Scream movies, but also happy for her that she got to skip this Ghostface killing spree.
+ I've been saying this forever but more people really need to react to hitting Ghostface by immediately following that up with hitting them a dozen more times rather then immediately running away. They're down! Make sure they stay down and can't keep chasing you!
