Episode 2x08

+ Mira messing with Arisu and Usagi with the random explanations was pretty fun. The people in the future was my favourite. A part of me was almost convinced by her 'he's been imagining all of this' story too. It seemed plausible the show could go there but I'm really glad it didn't because THAT I would have found disappointing.

+ Mira getting so into her final game of croquet and her excitement at winning was weirdly endearing. As with the Queen of Spades and King of Clubs she seemed very calm and accepting of her death, there was no anger or helpless fighting against it. I liked it very much.

+ The chances of people living or dying of their wounds is so random. What even. And I wrote this before Heiya somehow dragged herself to the other side of the building to collapse on Aguni. What the fuck???? Yay for her living but also WHAT.

+ I do find Aguni/Heiya very sweet.

+ I was a little surprised that Niragi chose to leave borderlands.

+ It was a meteorite exploding over the city! I kind of guessed it.

+ So Borderland is the borderland between life and death. And people can compete to pass all the games for the chance to live and return to life? If you die in Borderlands then your dying body in reality dies. ... This all makes sense to me and overall I'm pretty happy with this explanation for what's happening.

Of course it doesn't really answer a lot of questions. Like, why the hell it's death games? So many people died without even the chance to try and survive. The girl in the first episode got laser almost immediately through not true fault on their own. I do think this has all been about people regaining the desire to live in the real world but it seems unfair that some never really get the chance. What happens to those who chose to stay and become citizens? Their bodies die? Or they're in a coma?

Ann is a bit of an anomaly in that she seemed to clearly die in the borderlands and yet she was resuscitated on Earth. It doesn't fit. I'm curious about why she was the exception. Because of how close it happened to her death? Was she still slightly alive? Is it because Kuina answered for her and that was accepted because it was also her last wish? Regardless I am very glad she survived.

+ No one remembers their time in Borderlands but all the same they clearly feel a connection to each other. I'm glad that Usagi and Arisu found their way back to each other. That the emotions they worked through and their new desire for change and life stayed with them. I'm torn on them remembering. On the one hand they went through hell and no one needs that additional trauma but on the other I am sad that they won't have the memories of their time together.

+ Knowing about the choices now I am so curious about why Kyuma and his band chose to stay in Borderlands rather then return to Earth. They clearly weren't alone in life because they had each other. So?
