Beyond Evil Episodes 3 & 4
May. 22nd, 2024 03:45 pmEpisode 3
+ Dong-sik needs to stop acting like a suspicious nutjob! I have no idea how to explain his everything. Trauma certainly answers for some of it but everything together is just... dude, stop being so creepily suspicious in everything you do!
Honestly at times he almost seems to be actively trying to be considered a suspect again. Maybe this is all part of some grand plan. He definitely gives off wily like a mad fox vibes. I can buy him getting himself arrested as part of some plan to lure out the real killer. Especially if he thinks it's a cop, one of the people he knows.
The laughter though is a bit much. Either he's the killer, or he has a split personality or (my theory) the crazy laughter is an unconscious nervous tick when he's really upset, a sort of coping technique left over from all the trauma he suffered.
Episode 4
+ Yeah setting up a security camera to catch only you cleaning with bleach except to miss one incriminating drop of blood is very suspicious. He was absolutely setting the police up. He purposefully revealed himself to the press. Is he purposefully damaging the public perception of the police? Hmm. (Sounds like a criminal mastermind thing to do but I still believe in him!) In fact he's been purposefully provoking Joo-won knowing he'd search the basement. He totally set him up.
+ I'm enjoying the game Dong-sik and Joo-won are playing but it really feels like Joo-won is outclassed. Dong-sik comes off as a little crazy and emotional but is I think the most calcaulating person on the show. Meanwhile Joo-won projects calm and classy confidence but is deeply emotional and rash.
+ Dong-sik in interview was clearly a nightmare to deal with but was fun to watch.
+ I love Chief Nam's exsasperation with Dong-sk's antics but also how hard he fought for him. I think he is fully in Dong-sik's corner. He made that mistake once with Dong-sik and won't do it again (let's see if that stays true.)
+ It was interesting to see how the people around Dong-sik reacted. Jin-mook and Jae-yi were 100% in his corner and trying to take care of him. (Sweet.) Ji-hwa is trying to do her job the best she can even if that means considering him a suspect, but is also on his side despite it. Jeong-je is kind of a squirrely dude and in a repeat from the last time waits awhile before becoming Dong-sik's alibi while also kind of thinking he's maybe the killer? I'm side-eying the character a little. The other guys in his station seem generally supportive and angry
+ The Jin-mook/Dong-sik jail talk was sad all around and one of my favourite scenes of the show. I loved them trying to take care of each other. Now I'm going to be sad if one of them is the killer. (I still suspect Jin-mook.)
+ That end seemed to set up Ji-hoon as a potential killer but I'm not buying it. The way that was shot I think he wasn't who she was smiling at. I'm mostly curious if he saw who she was.
+ Joo-won clearly has his secrets but I don't think he's a killer. I think that despite his straightlaced attitude he is so sure of himself and his view of a situation that he will bend or break the law to get his desired result.
+ Joo-won came into the show already certain that Dong-sik was a murderer so its interesting that he's changed his tune to seeing him more as an accomplice covering for someone, which is something I consdered back in the second episode.
