Excellent series, full of some amazing acting.

Dong-sik looked so free and happy at the end, and that is literally all wanted for the end of the series. He spent so long suffering, one cruelty and loss stacked on another, and it was a joy to know that in the years afterwards he managed to actually find a way to let it all go and find peace. His smile looked happy at the end, not crazy! I love that Joo-won was as moved as I was by it. Sang-bae would have been so very happy for him. This was all he ever wanted for him too.

The other ending I wanted was for Dong-sik and Joo-won to be partners again so I was a little sad that didn't happen.

I really enjoyed how they brought the conspirators down in the end. The recording did end up being the lynchpin in getting them to turn on each other so good on Joo-won.

Wow, Hae-won's final secret was a doozy! Blackmailed by Jin-mook into giving him a place to bury his bodies, knowing that he's murdered one girl. The way he intimidated her as he blackmailed and threatened her was genuinely scary.

"I can't let that fool go down alone." - Dong-sik Awwwwwww.

I love that Dong-sik turned himself in to Joo-won to finally be arrested for the crimes he did. Finally doing what Joo-won wanted and needed from him, the lack of which had so hurt Joo-won's trust in Dong-sik and simply in general hurt Joo-won. It was a beautiful moment. I love that Dong-sik countered Joo-won's desire for punishment with this. I love the gentle way he took Joo-won's clenched fist and held it in his own. I love the way Dong-sik looked at Joo-won as he put the cuffs on - the care, the softness! And then a crying Joo-won bending over Dong-sik's cuffed hands and resting his face against them, I love it.

The ending memorial dinner for Sang-bae was lovely. I like the idea that they'll get together annually like this.

I appreciate that Hae-won was in fact lying about her about not caring about Jeong-je because that 'reveal' didn't sit right with me. It bothered me a lot in fact.

I thought Joo-won had a plan in going into Cheol-mun's alone but nope. He was just emotionally jumping in the line of fire and I'm judging him for that. Ji-hwa and Do-soo were literally RIGHT THERE and there was absolutely no need for him to go in there himself! It ended up not really meaning anything or having much of an effect on anything but still, no bad Joo-won. If Dong-sik had walked into a set up it would have been on purpose as part of a greater plan, yeesh, it's like he learned nothing.

I love that Ji-hwa figured out that Dong-sik put Min-jung's fingertips in front of Jin-mook's shop. really liked her confronting DOng-sik and demanding to finally be told the complete truth and that Dong-sik did it. I appreciated her appealing to him to handle this as police officers and within the law but accepting he wouldn't. It was a really nice scene between them.

Looking back Ji-joon ended up having a much smaller role then I thought. He was so prominant in the first part of the series but had basically disappeared in this final run of episodes.

This show really is about how not doing the right thing/following the law can just spiral in increasingly terrible ways. So much comes back to Jeong-je's choice to call his mom for help instead of calling the police instead. Granted the police arrested Dong-sik based on his guitar pick being at the scene and Han Ki-hwan was in charge so it's very possibly Jeong-je would have been convicted of her death anyway but who knows, maybe a lot more would have been unravelled. (Really the true moment of divergence is actually Han Ki-hwan NOT drinking and driving, accepting Chang-jin's offer to drive him. They or Jeong-je would have thus come upon Yu-yeon without hitting her, maybe, and Jin-mook would have been arrested before he became a serial killer.)

When the truth about everything this series comes out it is going to make the distrust in police skyrocket. Even the 'good' cops trying to take down the bad guys were doing illegal shit all over the place.
