The Lincoln Lawyer
Jul. 12th, 2024 11:37 pmI liked it.
+ I liked the characters. I liked the relationships for the most part. I enjoyed watching Mickey solve cases and out-clever the prosecution.
+ My favourite thing is how Mickey saves people, earns their loyalty and has gathered a large diverse group of random people he can rely on and call on in need. I always really enjoy that.
+ I loved Mickey saying he had four people he cared about most, Cisco questioning who the fourth person was and then towards the end of the season him slowly discovering what Mickey had sacrificed to help him, and thus that Cisco himself was the fourth person. We don't get any resolution to the little storyline and there's no talk between them over it but hopefully in the second season. I really enjoyed their relationship.
+ Lorna is lovely. I liked her and I liked her ending the season reapplying to law school.
+ I thought both Mickey and Maggie had points in their final fight but still think Mickey is the one who screwed up and I don't blame Maggie for being pissed off. The two of them are absolutely alike and them willing to go the distance for their client is a shared trait. He's right that she would put her client/case first too.
He was so obviously appalled when he realised what was going to happen and he ran immediately to her office to try and warn her -- and then didn't actually warn her. And here is where he went completely wrong - he didn't trust Maggie. That's what it comes down to. He didn't trust that she wouldn't do something that would tip off Langford and so didn't actual warn her in any meaningful way, and thus allowed her case to blow up. I'd be pissed too. Lack of genuine trust is a huge relationship stumbling block.
The thing that bothers me most is I don't even get why it was so important to not tip off Lankford. Who cares if he was in the room for the reveal? What exactly could he do to somehow mitigate the shit storm that was about to come down on him? I suppose he could be worried that Lankford would get to Perez? Eh.
+ I enjoyed Mickey's slowly growing frenemies relationship with Griggs.
+ I liked Maggie managing to find a way to take down Soto even after her case imploded.
+ Mickey was absolutelly right that the answer was right in front of our face the whole time - Trevor was constantly playing with a drone - and I love that they left it so obvious like that. Meanwhile I got so caught on that dumb talking fish and was so certain that Jerry's smoking gun would be hidden in it, lol.
