Spider-Man: Across the Universe
Jul. 20th, 2024 11:24 pmI liked it.
+ I love Miles being confident enough that he refused to accept Miguel's take on him. I loved that his wild escape from the Spiderverse headquarters was really all part of his plan to get back to his reality. A+ job.
+ I loved Spot as a villain. His initial fail-boating attempt at being a thief and his first fight with Spider-Man was ridiculous and silly and fun. I loved the reveals about how he was tied to Miles - that he brought the spider that bit him to this reality, that he was the one Peter hit with the bagel, that he was at the collider test. His power was also great and made for some really fun fight scenes. Overall great villain execution.
+ I absolutely love how Miguel is this serious, angsty dangerous Spider-Man who is absolutely warily respected and yet so many of the characters (especially Peter B and Hobie) casually poke fun of him and he just grumpily takes it while quitely muttering to himself about why he deserves this. Amused me a lot.
+ I loved the opening fight between Gwen and Vulture ft Miguel and Jess. It was really fun. The quips amused me. The fight was really engaging to watch. A+
+ Also super enjoyed the sequence at Mumbatten. Pavitr Prabhakar is adorable and his introduction was delightful. Liked his shipping of Miles/Gwen, his confidence, his very nice hair.
+ I love how Mumbatten really showed how Miles is a natural leader - he immediately took charge, gave the other spider-people with him orders that worked best with their abilities, and most important of all was immediately listened to.
+ Peter B was absolutely secretly pulling for Miles to escape and win.
+ I like the team Gwen put together to help Miles at the end and I can't wait to see more of them AS a team in the next movie.
+ As with the first I really loved the look of the movie and the different animation styles used. The visuals were great and there were some really amazing shots. A very beautiful movie to watch. Also the addition of the live action Spider-men was great.
+ I loved that moment when Gwen left Miles world, sadly saying goodbye as Miles hangs in front of her invisible.
+ I really wish we'd gotten more of Jess's mentorship of Gwen.
+ I did not expect the cliffhanger ending and 'to be continued'. I'm a little meh about it. It's a movie and even if it's part of a series I feel like it should have a solid end, even as a cliffhanger and this really wasn't that.
+ I enjoyed all the different Spider-Men and I enjoyed them working together but also accidentally working against each other in the big end chase scene.
+ Mayday was adorable. But Peter taking her into battle knowing that MJ doesn't want that (for very understanable reasons) made me kind of annoyed with him. Dude respect your wife better! Also do not take parenting tips from Batman.
