9-1-1 Season 6 Thoughts

iariaThis season was fine but left less of an impression then previous ones tbh.
+ I understand why Hen wanted to be interim captain, the satisfaction of being given that responsibility after where she started, but wow did I shake my head so hard at it. Working full time as a firefighter + full time medical school and she wanted to add the added work/pressure of being captain? Oh, Hen, no.
+ There was a point there when I actually thought they might make Hen a doctor and have the show add another angle to their first responders lineup. That they didn't doesn't surprise me though. Still that was a very expensive, time-consuming choice on Hen's point.
+ Buck's desperation to be considered for captain and his behaviour caused by it was just pitiful tbh. This is exactly why he isn't under consideration. Bobby was being way nice about it.
+ I really liked how Chimney/Maddie proposal storyline played out.
+ I am very not down with Bobby kidnapping that poor girl's dog. Yeah, she was irresponsible and it almost cost Hoover's life but also it's her bloody dog! She cared enough to call 911! To take him to college with her. Like, call it protective custody all you want but he stole her dog and I'm not happy about it. If Hoover wasn't hers but a stray, or if Hoover was being actively abused I'd have been 100% there for it. As is hard no.
+ Hen & Chimney continue to be one of my favourite relationships. I love their friendship. I love that he sneakily set Hen up with Karen.
+ I'd wondered about what happened to Denny's bio father. He showed up in season 1 and showed himself to be a good man by not trying to take Hen and Karen to court for Denny and then he disappeared and was never mentioned again. I wondered if he was somewhere in the background unseen during season 2 but apparently he didn't push to be a part of Denny's life? Even though him teaming up with Eva seemed to imply he wanted a kid? I wish we'd been told what happened back then. I absolutely get how angry Hen was at him. Nathaniel did so wrong. Allowing a kid to lie to their parents and then taking them places and spending time with them without said parents knowledge is sketchy as fuck. What the hell dude!
+ Wendall was a sweet guy and his death was sad. Him covering for Tamara and taking the shot to protect her was certainly a step above but at the same time as soon as they were caught I was wondering why he didn't just get out of there? Leave! He'd planted the camera. Yes, he'd have to find a way back in to get it but that could be a problem for the future. It was clear from the first words Carrie said that she was suspicious as hell and didn't believe them. I was mentally screaming at him to just cut his losses and storm out.
+ Buck deciding to donate sperm to help a friend have a child was very giving and kind but I foresee this causing future trouble. I did enjoy Kameron basically moving into his apartment and him helping her out and playing marriage counsellor with her and Conner.
+ Buck holding his bio-son made me realise how kid heavy this series is. Everyone has kids! It feels weird lol.
+ It was nice to have Ravi back. He fits in well with the team. I liked the episode at the academy.
+ I didn't notice at first but Lucy not returning was disappointing. I thought she worked well with the team and I just enjoy her as a character. It was nice to see her again at the end of the season.
+ This season felt like it had our background 118 around more but there were definitely still instances where the fact that they aren't characters or around a lot stick out. Like in the finale, Lucy is like all the 118 fell in and then they do a call count and only our main group answer. This is the perfect time to have some of those extras pip up, you know?
+ I liked the little cameo from the basketball star Bobby saved seasons ago helping Athena to save Bobby.
