Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Dec. 31st, 2024 02:05 pmI enjoyed it.
Edgin and Holga were wonderful. I loved them. The way they know each other so well, how well they worked as a team. Their honesty with each other. Their unshakable loyalty.
I liked Edgin admitting to 'Kira' that he was so determined to bring back not Zia, Kira's mother, but Zia, Edgin's wife. I loved how that tied back to the end with him realising that in most ways it's Holga that is Kira's mother and him choosing to use the stone to bring her back instead. Of course, it's not just for Kira I firmly believe, because Edgin loves her too.
Holga's genuinely confused "Why would you do that?" at them 'wasting' the tablet on her got me in the heart. I loved the group hug and her little smile.
I found Holga hilarious. I loved her getting stuck on the deer idea and then her vindication when Doric ended up turning into a deer.
The failed illusion spell was hilarious and Helga’s “I think they’re starting to get suspicious” was the perfect cap to it
Xenk's smile when Edgin whispered 'I hate you' and later his unwavering stare of judgment after Simon took out the bridge (lol) sold me on him.
I liked Edgin narrating Xenk leaving.
LOL to them adding in a portal gun staff.
Roly-poly dragon Themberchaud was adorable. Love him.
 Forge's fussiness was amusing.
Simon reassuring himself that they didn't need the bridge and "I did good." LOL
Doric looking back at Sofina, grabbing her by both claws and slamming her bunch more into the ground was really funny.
I'm curious about how Doric's shapeshifting works. Does she lose a bit of herself into whatever shape she takes or if she unchanged by it? There were a couple times when she was an owlbear that I wondered.
Doric slowly getting impressed by Simon over the course of the movie was a nice little thread.
The guards collective aw when they put down the gate amused me.
I liked the look of Sofina's decayed form at the end.
I like that Kira was involved in defeating Sofina.
Doric not changing to a less noticeable shape to follow the guards was dumb.
Them using the treasure to lure the citizens out of the arena is a great idea but the timing of it was pretty dumb which made it work less for me. It should have happened before Sofina's spell became so obviously scary/dangerous. I feel like at the point they started dropping treasure all the people should have already been freaking out more and trying to leave. Just a slight timing issue there.
