I think what really stuck out most was just how explicit and horny this book was! I wasn't expecting it. Also Hua Cheng and Xie Lian both being constantly hot and bothered by each other, and fucking all over the place was delightful. The part where Heaven's Eye starts interrogating Xie Lian in front of everyone because now the evil qi is internal and in much greater amounts and the reactions to that were hilarious. Good for them!

Also Hua Cheng teasing and 'bullying' Xie Lian and getting more unruly and Xie Lian regretting being so lenient with him (but not really) was great.

I love that in the end they are worshipped together. The whole lore about how the worse the Scrap Immortal looks, the more depressed and woeful, the better he will end up after being placed with a Ghost King to help him break free.

I love that everyone played a part in fighting Jun Wu but in the end it was Xie Lian on his own, with his power set free, that defeated him.

I was so sure that Jun Wu would end the series dead but I liked his last scenes with Mei Nianqing. Being trapped under the mountain is not a great fate and possibly he'd have preferred death but it feels like it's leaving it open to the possibility for a future redemption, maybe? The fact the Xie Lian hesitated about going to talk with Jun Wu indicates to me that at some possible point in the future he might do so, and who knows where it will go from there.

Hua Cheng kissing so much spiritual energy into Xie Lian that it broke both his shackles was great.

I find it honestly kind of sweet that Hua Cheng lost his eye making Eming in order to save a group of humans about to be killed in Mount Tonglu. Even about to disappear he was trying to live up to Xie Lian's ideals - and then he Ascended! And then rejected that Ascension, of course, but wow.

I loved Ruoye dragging Xie Lian to Hua Cheng and then playing dead when Xie Lian scolded it, lol. Ruoye was great this book. So glas Mu Qing was able to fix it.

Yay for Mu Qing finally FINALLY opening up and telling Xie Lian how he feels. "I'm still kind of in awe of you" and You are rather amazing." Awww! I'm glad that my theory way back when that he simply loved Xie Lian too much was mostly right. And yes he also let loose with things that made him dislike and distrust Xie Lian (and I love Feng Xin's anger over that) but I liked that he also acknowledged that a lot of that was his own biases and insecurities coming out.

I'm glad that we saw Shi Qingxuan again and I loved that he was one of Xie Lian's regular visitors while he was waiting for Hua Cheng but I admit I'm surprised that he seems to have continued to be a homeless beggar? I'm sad for him that he hadn't (yet?) regained his godhood but to still not have started a better mortal life?

I liked that He Xuan 'showed up' and the dinner Xie Lian hosted (and ate all the food) but I wish we'd actually gotten to see him and that we could have gotten more of a resolution concerning him and Shi Qingxuan.

So glad that Ling Wen was recognised for how indespenible she was in Heaven and let off with no repercussions for everything she did (except for the paperwork). The scene where she was dragged to the temporary headquarters and everyone is just immediately relieved to see her was amusing.

Mu Qing exasperatedly telling Xie Lian to just not do everything Hua Cheng says because he's still under suspicion amused me.

I don't remember if it's actually directly addressed but why would Xie Lian still be so misfortunate after losing the shackle? I thought all his misfortune was because of it (his attempt at penance?) Is it just that it's such a part of his myth that it's how he's known but his actual luck is better.

I loved Eming rolling around on the ground throwing a fit at not being allowed to cuddle naked Xie Lian during the amnesia extra.

I am very amused that the cavern of thousands Xie Lian statues now each have their own Hua Cheng, including one very lucky pair who returned to being mindless statues mid fuck.

I'm glad that we got a short little cameo of Yin Yu in one of the extras because I was worried when his fate wasn't addressed that he was actually going to stay dead. I find it interesting that he returned to working faithfully for Hua Cheng. I wish we'd gotten
