+ Is the difference in how Cole and Cassie are viewed/treated down to then how when given the opportunity to kill Cassie took that leap while Cole lowered his gun? I found it interesting that his Guardian tried to reason with Cole but even after Cole showed his unwillingness to hurt Athan as soon as Cassie made her appearance he disappeared with him. No it could be he was simply waiting for the opportunity but the timing made me hmmm all the same.
+ Cole was clinging so hard to the idea of himself as a murderer, as someone who hasn't changed, to try and force himself to kill his son for the greater good but it was no surprise that in that moment, at that crossroads choice, choose not to kill his son. Because he has changed.
+ Wait, did Athan not go by any name until Cole named him right then?
+ Athan's protective Guardian (Sebastian?) was interesting. He kept all Cole drawings from Magdalena. He approached his 'job' not in light of the future but the present. "The boy is my charge. Not the man." That's an important step. He's not guardian of his prophet/god/future but of a young boy. It makes me think of Mallick. I wondered if he was a Follower but not of the 12 Monkeys cult. And now I feel pretty sure that there has to be some division in the cult.
+ Oh yes I really needed that Cassie vs Magdalena showdown. Especially with how very creepy Magdalena is with Athan. I loved that Cassie killed her using the time vest - in the exact same way Magdalena has died multiple times already in the service of her cult.
+ Jennifer being there for Cole and trying to return the favour in encouraging him to make a better choice, and not just accept that he had to kill his son, because once "someone showed me another way, a better way." was great.
+ I also loved Cole being all sweetly supportive of Jennifer when he sent her to honey trap the scientist. "You look adorable. You can handle this." Awww.
+ I loved the little Primary meeting of minds and I hope we get more. I loved Athan telling Jennifer that he thinks that "one day you'll be the best of us all" I can't wait to see what that entails. I hope this connection between them continues.
+ Go Deacon for being so observant and not just ignoring his suspicions.
+ Deacon shooting the surrendering people in the room and replying to Jennifer's "They were good!" with "I'm not." was an interesting choice. He's been very... hmm, leashed, let's say, this season and especially with Jennifer there has been a softness to him. So this return to norm was a little shocking. I wonder if he's doing his own version of Cole trying to convince himself that he hasn't changed.
+ Cassie's meeting with her mother was lovely. I enjoyed their scenes. I liked her mom. I'm very happy for Cassie that she took the opportunity and was able to change the past just slightly enough that she got to have that last museum visit with her mom.
+ Katarina feels betrayed but she of all people should know what a mother is willing to do to save her child. I think what hurts most of all though is the fact that without the time travel she invented the future she invented it to prevent could never have happened. Yeesh time travel.
+ I liked Cole's worry for Hannah and him immediately giving her the injection to splinter her back, and I liked that Cassie sent them to get an injured Deacon.
+ I liked Marcus letting Cole and Cassie go. He has no idea what's going on, just that shit has hit the fan and Deacon sent him after them, and so in the end he doesn't interfere.
+ So it seems to me that we have a bit of a division at Spinter Headquarters. Katarina and Deacon are set in their decision that they have to kill The Witness. Jennifer is firmly Team Cole/Cassie and wants to save The Witness. With Hannah out of the picture could Jennifer turn the Daughters to her side? Would she actively work against Katarina? Could this potential division be the cause of the base being destroyed?
+ Hannah was a badass in her fight. I hope she survives.
