12 Monkeys 4x01 Thoughts

+ I was not expecting this much death this quickly into the season! Poor Lasky getting shot in the head. (Why does he always die?? Next time he's brought back he deserves a raise!) Marcus going out defending Katarina! Deacon being left behind after doing something heroic. :(
+ Katarina Jones continues to be such a badass. I loved her giving herself adrenaline, dragging herself out of her hospital to the Core room, killing those in her way, and then taking the splinter radiation knowing what it means in order to save who she could.
+ I really love that at no point does Cole give up. Even faced with everyone around him doing so he didn't let it stop him.
+ Marcus/Katarina were wonderful as they always are. I still wish we'd gotten more of them. Marcus worried 'Jones' when he saw her injured and immediately rushing to her side and gently stroking her hair, awww. Marcus being there to support her to the core and then buying her the time she needed. Katarina sitting beside him, holding his hand as he died :(
+ Deacon going out to blow the smoke-stack was really brave of him and it sucks that the consequence was (probably death). Deacon begging for them to not leave him was so sad. Poor Deacon. Though he had to know there was literally nothing they could do for them. Still I really appreciate that Cassie did run to try and save him and that she had to be dragged away. The saddest part is that they didn't really get the chance to talk and resolve their differences/make peace.
+ Is Deacon for sure dead or could he have survived? I'm pretty sure it's the former but if it's the latter I hope this doesn't lead to him turning on the team.
+ I loved Cole and Cassie fighting back to back, and kicking ass.
+ I really didn't know what to think about Jennifer's Alias inspired museum heist and her sudden new skills. I was a little ehhhh - and then we got the reveal of what she was imagining vs what really happened, which felt more likely and was pretty funny.
+ Cassie hesitating in treating Katarina and in saving her is understandable. She watched Katarina shoot her son, of course she'd have a lot of anger over it.
+ I was a little sad when Cole didn't say anything to Cassie when she was hesitating in saving Katarina but I liked him pointing out to Cassie that Katarina saved them after they managed to splinter.
+ Hannah choosing to follow Cole "so you do not walk alone" was interesting. I feel like there is going to be a theme this season of everyone having to pull together to win. None of them are alone because they have each other, and that is what is going to allow them to win.
+ The Daughters continuing to simply be Red Shirts continues to deeply irritate me. Meh.
+ Cole's name coming up so far in the past -- once again there is the question about why is he so special. Did he simply create it himself and we'll learn that a future version of himself went back there? Or is Cole special because he is important to other people (mainly Jennifer)?
+ I'm not sure why they didn't have everyone locked up in the main room except for those defending the base. Why were the main doors even open?
+ The group of Primaries seeing their deaths by fire and just accepting it made me wince. WHY?
Deleted Scenes:
+ I think they should have kept the Deacon/Cole little scuffle. Deacon actually backing off from a fight! Him giving Cole advice "Fight the long fight. Like Olivia." and Cole agreeing. It was a small scene but I think it was too important to have cut.
+ I really appreciated Marcus's longer more drawn out fight to the death. I liked him getting a moment highlighting his own badassery. But if things had to be cut I can see why this went.
