12 Monkeys 4x11 Thoughts

iariaThe other post was getting a little long, so my thoughts on the very end of the final episode.
The End
+ I wasn't sure at all how this could end in a happy ever after but the show managed it! I was ready for Cole to have to sacrifice himself and I was waiting for that bittersweet ending but I'm glad it didn't go that way. I absolutely accept Katarina changing things enough that Cole would be spit out somewhere in time. I wonder if she managed to program when or if Time handled it.
+ I think what makes this work best is that not only did Jennifer remember but that Cassie remembered too. Not entirely but enough that she broke up with Aaron and bought the House of Cedar and Pine. Enough that she waited for Cole, even if she didn't know who she was waiting for. And then once she saw him she remembered it all.
Which leads to - does this mean that everyone who knew Cole could remember him? Because if yes then it means that that future version of Ramse and Katarina and Deacon could know Cole (and Cassie) again, could potentially know their previous future. It makes me happy to think that outside those snapshots of their new lives exists the fact that they are the versions we know as well, and Cole and Cassie got them back.
+ I loved Cassie's "The family I love but never knew."
+ Checking in on the extended cast, across the timeline:
- Jennifer living her scientific dream, apparently still a scientist, her father alive since she is heiress.
- Cassie still a doctor saving people. But separated from Aaron and bought the house of cedar and pine.
- Katarina, Elliot and adult Hannah as a happy family in the future was lovely. Curious to know why Katarina chose to not have the abortion but maybe she always would have chosen to have the baby and just needed time to think about it.
- Ramse in the future with Sam still his son, playing a peaceful game together, in what looks like an expensive home.
- Lasky and Adler, chess friends in the park was sweet.
- I love that in the future Deacon has a bar and his brother, and also his friendship with Jennifer.
- eta: I was ready to be mad but I'm glad we got an update on on Marcus and it's that he has his own architecture firm, building like he always wanted to.
- eta: I also appreciate the little update on Gale which I wasn't expecting at all. Dead at 81 after being the FBI Director for decades, that was nice.
+ The fact that this timeline's Jennifer got to live her dream of bio-engineering a unicorn was fabulous. The scoll on the tv of 'Scientific community asks: "Why?"' was hilarious.
+ Of them I find Jennifer's history the one I am most interested in because I figured hers would be the hardest to make happy. After all Leland is presumably still the same asshole and terrible father. With Time back to normal does this mean there are no Primaries? So Jennifer is no longer 'crazy'? I can see how Leland would be 'better' with that. Still would that really make the Jennifer we see? I doubt it. Which makes me wonder just when Jennifer remembered the previous timelines. Did her previous status as Primary mean that she remembered early on?
+ I love that Athan and Katarina saved Cole. Two separate generations connected by him and their love for him.
+ I wish Jennifer had something to do with Cole's survival. Apparently she still has a connection to Time so maybe she did. I did love that she was there to greet Cole and help him understand what was happening.
+ I got the Jennifer/Cole hug I wanted and it was beautiful.
+ "You were never crazy. You were the best of all of us." ♥
+ I liked the return of the opening voice over from the pilot.
