Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Thoughts
I thought it was a great trailer. It's made me even more excited to see the film.
+ The scene of Kylo agonizing over shooting the ship bridge that Leia's on gave me all the feels. They have it cut as if she senses him at that same moment and I really hope that's exactly how it plays out. I want Leia to use her force ability (this reminds me so much of her sensing Luke at the Cloud City before rescuing him.) I am so excited for this scene. I am so excited for this relationship. It's made me realise just how invested I am in them. I really need them to have an actual scene together.
As for the outcome I feel like there is no way he is going to fire on her. I think they will show that instead of killing Han freeing Kylo from his doubt/emotions it will only increase his regret and how torn he is. I'm hoping that it's this moment that starts Kylo on a different path. He can't kill her and eventually realises he can't continue to follow Snoke and is lost. *more thoughts below
(I do think that Kylo has to be firing on Leia because he is so affected that I can't think of anyone else it could be.)
+ Honestly the only scene I need from TLJ is a good Leia/Luke reunion. I better get a beautiful hug. We deserve that hug! If they don't get an onscreen reunion I am going to be so damn sad.
+ I like how much focus there is on Rey in this trailer. I love that she actually appears to be super powerful. I love the idea that Kylo's interrogation woke her power and that she managed to accomplish so much immediately is down to the fact that she just has so much power.
+ Luke/Rey! I loved his freaked out reaction to her show of power. Creepy Luke waiting in the misty dark cave when Rey emerges from the water was a great little moment. Why so creepy Luke? I love it.
+ I'm not at all certain where the movie is going with Luke. I can see why Kylo might make Luke gun-shy about mentoring another super powerful force user but does he end up just refusing to train her? What even is his arc this Episode? Is it about overcoming his own fear to help Rey? I am excited that to see what happened in the past since it looks like we will get flashbacks.
+ I love how explicit they're making the fact that Rey and Kylo are two halves of a whole. The mirroring of them, the fact that Luke has only see that sort of raw strength once before (clearly Kylo though it'd be amusing if he was talking about Vader). I can just hear all the cries of Mary Sue about Rey's power which is another reason to like them contrasting her to Kylo's own incredible power.nKylo and Rey both look really great. I am so interested in both their journeys and where this movie is going to take them.
+ Snoke torturing Rey! It did make me think that his opening monologue over Kylo might actually be him talking about Rey?
+ So that final "scene" between Kylo and Rey is clearly two different scenes but them putting them together makes me think that there has to be something similar happening in the movie. Unless the trailer monkeys were out again. But assuming that Kylo is in fact offering his hand to Rey - so excited! I want it. I think that it would take a lot to get Rey to the point where she would accept it possibly something with Leia and her continued belief in and love for Kylo. I like the idea of Kylo *abandoning Snoke and then for whatever reason Rey separates from Luke and perhaps this moment is the two of them allying to take a new non-jedi and non-sith path of force use?
+ It just occurs to me that someone else that Kylo could be reaching his hand out to could be Leia. I don't know how that would happen but I'd love it.
+ Actually how I want these movies to end with respect to Leia and Luke is for neither of them to be killed and instead of them to leave together for some new adventure/retirement. Perhaps to retire to a new world to help people with force sensitivity in a whole new way. I don't know. I don't care why or what just that it happens. I just really, really, really want both of them to survive and be together. It'll have to be off screen though they could show them from the back leaving together but that's what I need to happen. I don't want Leia to die at all. But if she lives I don't want her to be alone. She has already suffered far too much, lost too much. I don't want her to lose her brother or her son. She and Luke lost over a decade together and I want them to have the rest of their future.
+ I feel like Kylo leaving with Leia (and Luke) at the end could be the best ending for him. I 100% think they are doing a redemption arc with him. They showed us him reaching his lowest point (killing Han) and this Episode will be the start of him moving to redemption. Probably first by him showing regret and choosing to move away from Snoke. I really don't want him to share the same fate as Vader. Redemption via death has been done. I'd much rather him living and repenting and actively working for his redemption. I also don't really want him looked away in a prison for his crimes, though certainly it would be deserved, so him leaving with Leia and Luke could be a good solution. And it is the happiest end I can see for Leia so I want it. Also Luke since hopefully this will follow him and Kylo making up.
+ Finn looks smoking hot in that First Order uniform and I'm excited about the showdown with Captain Pasma. Hopefully this means she'll get a bigger role in this film. Not too sure about Finn's storyline and him going undercover with the First Order if that is what is happening.
+ The porg is really cute. The ice foxes are amazing and I want one.
+ I love that Kylo is a great fighter pilot just like his uncle and grandfather before him. Kind of makes me hope for a Kylo/Poe face off.
+ Weird that we didn't even get a shot of Rose. Or any other new character, huh.
