The Nine Lives of Chloe King Thoughts

1x04 'All Apologies':

I really enjoyed this episode.

- I loved Chloe yelling at Amy. I loved that she refused to apologise. I liked how she laid everything out logically and the way she painfully but maturely accepted that it could be the end of their friendship. That was just a really great scene.

A list of other likes:

- The scene where Chloe and Amy made up, and the fact that Amy was making the call while waiting in her car outside Chloe's house.
- Alek and Jasmine training Chloe and her growing friendships with them.
- The scene where Alek taught Chloe how to control her hearing.
- Valentina threatening Brian’s dad.
- The final Valentina/Chloe scene.
- The Chloe/Lana scenes. I love that it was Lana who saved Chloe not Alek.
- Chloe’s relationship with her mother is great.

1x06 ‘Nothing Compares to You’

• I really like that Chloe usually saves herself.

• I still like Chloe/Alec more than Chloe/Brian.

• I liked how the Chloe/Mimi apology meeting went. The two of them bonding over making fun of Alec and teasing him was great and I’m very glad it didn’t descend into bitchness. I am a little worried that her catching him gazing after Chloe with that completely love-struck expression and then running after her might lead to jealous!Mimi though.

• Chloe charging into the school storage closet actually had a lot more meaning then what I think the show meant for it to have. She basically accused him of being a killer. It showed that despite saying she trusts Alec, and showing it on occasion, she really doesn’t. Not to think of humans as people and to treat them as such. Now I think she has reasons for her reaction – her experience the previous week with Nikki and Lilah and their attitudes towards humans, and Alec’s attitude about Brian at the start of this episode (which she doesn’t seem to have connected to Alec being jealous of Brian not a deeper dislike of humans) – and I think she leapt without thinking but still – ouch.

• Amy’s storyline was completely boring.

• The random lady at the art gallery who randomly complemented Chloe and Brian on being a lovely couple, and then when they demurred was all ‘perhaps you’re meant to be together!’ made me roll my eyes.

• I don’t know what Chloe’s been thinking with regards to Brian. Okay, she’s mostly been hiding behind denial that they were just friends (even as she flirted with him every time they met). But Alec actually does have a point here even if his bitching is largely caused by his jealousy. It’s not even just that if she kisses him ever he will die; it’s the fact that she’s a different species from him and is keeping that a secret. That is a huge secret to have!

1x07 ‘Dogs of War’

• I love the idea that there are many different species. Presumably there could be a different species for every Egyptian god but what about other mythologies? Clearly Chloe being the Uniter means that she’s meant to be the uniter of all the species.

• I loved the short bit of Meredith/Amy interaction we got – “Frank this is Amy my occasional second daughter.” Adorable! I love the idea that Amy was over at Chloe’s so much that she basically became a part of the family.

• I enjoyed the Chloe/Alec interactions and the kiss at the end was nice but it’s moving a bit fast for me. They’ve known each other for how long? Not long enough to throw out “we belong together”.

• Jasmine covering for Alec was great of her but why did he let her? It doesn’t put him in the greatest light. Unless... I suppose if he would have been in serious trouble for directly disobeying an order I can understand it.

• Nico’s plan was ridiculously stupid and it makes me irritated with the writers. It all hinged on Chloe not only being willing to help Kai but also on Kai being able to get close enough without being killed in order to even ask for help, on Chloe physically taking him back to his ‘home’, of Chloe not having a bunch of guards with her... there were so many variables. Plus he had to be completely willing to sacrifice his son to do it. It would have made more sense to me for Kai’s story to have been true – and then for his dad to take advantage of the situation to try and kill her.

• I like Frank. His short scene with Chloe was nice.

• I’ve been bothered by Chloe and her mother’s reactions whenever Chloe’s dad was brought up. I was under the impression that he’d just abandoned them so I couldn’t understand why Meredith was both calm and sad about him. But now that it appears he simply disappeared one day suddenly things make more sense.
