Prosecutor Princess Episode 5 Thoughts

I love this drama. I love Hye Ri. I love In Woo. I am so curious about the mystery surrounding In Woo that I'm actually tempted to spoil myself! But I won't.

• I am so curious about what is going on with In Woo. He was so desperate to keep Hye Ri not only in Korea but as a prosecutor that he even tried to use her feelings for Se Joon as a reason to stay. In his conversation with Jeni afterward they talk about how important it is that she not leave and that if she did it would put a case in danger. What ‘case’? In a later conversation In Woo tells Jeni “Hye Ri needs to do well” – why? Why does he need her to be a ‘good prosecutor’? I can’t figure it out. We get another piece of information when In Woo talks to his father and tells him not to worry because “things are going well”. What things?! Is this actually an elaborate revenge plot? Does it have something to do with In Woo’s mysterious visit to a lake to leave flowers? I am so confused. I find the mystery of who In Woo is and what he’s planning fascinating but I want to know the answers already. Also I’m still attached to my fiancé theory but as the evidence piles up it does seem less likely. I don’t know.

• Another mystery with In Woo is the other case, with the flower seller’s son, where he has the proof of innocence (or at least corroboration that he wasn’t completely lying) and yet he’s hiding it. He states to Jeni that they need Hye Ri to succeed so wouldn’t it make more sense for him to give her the evidence on that case as well? What is he planning? She thinks them being on the same case is a coincidence but we know it’s not so why did he set it all up? So he could back her into making a bet with him?

• I am continuing to love In Woo/Hye Ri (please don’t let him be a bad guy). I really liked the airport scene and I loved him acting as chauffer. The car scene when she fell asleep made me squee. He folded his shirt as a pillow for her!

• I keep finding myself torn on In Woo because on one hand I love him and on the other he’s a stalker who is clearly setting Hye Ri up for something and I’m really worried it’s going to be bad. I think it’s obvious that he really does care for her, that he might even be in love with her, but he’s still so mysterious I can’t say that he wouldn’t set her up to fall.

He keeps making me all sad for him with his faces – when he watches Hye Ri run into her work place post trial, during the phone call when he overhears her squeeing over Se Joon and then during the night scene outside her house (stalker or masochist? Both) – but I’m also feeling wary because we still don't know his motives and it’s making me nervous. Of course I feel like I should be more distrustful of him but I love him so much that I’m not even a little creeped out by him stalking her. Every time he reveals something sketchy he then goes and is adorable with Hye Ri or makes one of those faces and I melt. I loved him flashing his lights to prevent Se Joon from following Hye Ri.

• The show really needs to spend more time on Se Joon and fleshing him out because I’m still feeling mainly neutral about him. He does things I love – like getting the ‘tomato’ pictures of Hye Ri taken down and his discussion with her over the lady who did it – and he does things that make me mad – the scene between him and Hye Ri when he drops her off at home – but overall I’m – meh. For him to be a viable rival for In Woo I’m going to need more. He's just too self-contained.

• I was surprised when Hye Ri told Jung Sun that she liked Se Joon after their exchange the night before. She's not mad at him at all?

“I’m special. No matter what others say I really don’t care.” I continue to adore Hye Ri’s honesty and confidence. Sure, her honesty and frankness at times makes me cringe or shake my head but I find it admirable at the same time. I really love that she does believe in herself. She ran away not because she thought she was incompetent but because she was struggling with the humiliation.

“Only when a man’s pursuing her does a girl’s pride exist.” Yuck. Shut up.

• I found the end silly. Why does it matter if she used to be overweight? Even if she was embarrassed over it wouldn’t she also feel pride over how she currently looks? I just don’t understand the issue here.

• I loved Hye Ri’s scenes with Ji Min. She was wonderful with her and them bonding was adorable. She’s grown so much.

• I like the Chief, or rather I love watching him reacting to and about Hye Ri. I find it hilarious. The resignation letter scene both amused me and touched me.
