The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

I loved it and want to rec it to everyone. It’s an easy read, very engaging writing with lovely characters.

+ Nana was so wonderful, I adored him. I loved his pov on the world and his devotion to Satoru. His decision to become a stray again so that he could stay and keep Satoru company till the end was beautiful. I wish we'd spent a little more time with him during that time.

+ I love how the story was divided up into four different sections of the lives Satoru changed for the better with the fifth, Nana, being the overarching story bringing them together. I rather liked that we don’t actually get Satoru’s POV but learn about him from everyone elses' and see how wonderful a person he is in how he interacts with them.

+ I guessed pretty much immediately that Satoru was dying, and that was why he was on a journey to rehome Nana, simply because someone that devoted to his cat would never give him up for any other reason. But the slow reveal was nicely done and there was a moment where Satoru has the same reaction in the past to answering a question about his past (dead parents) as he does in the present about his situation (rehoming why?) that I loved.

+ I found this book really emotionally affecting and actually that’s a lie because it was kind of emotionally devastation for whatever reason. So many tears. The ending with Nana dreaming about Satoru and them reuniting was nice.

Just a very lovely story.
