Agents of SHIELD 6x06 Thoughts

Excellent episode. I really loved it.
+ In the first two seasons while I liked FitzSimmons as a pair I hated the idea of them as a couple. I became grudgingly accepting of it as an inevitability I had to deal with and while I did continue to enjoy their relationship and even at times like them as a couple I think this might be one of the few times I've found myself really shipping it. I really loved them in this episode. Them working through all their issues in a mind prison, tackling basically every big moment from joining Coulson's SHIELD team to Leopold, was brilliant.
+ This was also an excellent way to bring Fitz up to speed, not just with knowledge but also emotionally (somewhat), to where Fitz was when he died. This Fitz missed an entire season! That's a lot to miss.
+ Fitz's little shriek and then covering his mouth when he saw child Simmons made me laugh so hard. In fact Fitz trying to deal with 7 (and a half) year old Simmons was super delightful. He's so terrible with kids, I love it. "Well it looks like someone is only going to have two PhD's by the time they're 17, doesn't it", LOL, so petty.
+ I really liked that we got to see some of the aftermath of Fitz's death. The team mourning together in the morgue. Daisy rubbing Jemma's back. Coulson coming to say goodbye and supporting Jemma's mission. Everyone supporting each other. The May/Daisy hug.
+ The FitzSimmons flashback to their time at the Academy was unexpected but nice - minus Jemma's "the night I put you in the FriendZone" ... :[ no. That was probably the one moment in the episode I didn't like.
+ I liked the Coulson & FitzSimmons first meeting. They were so cute and young!
+ The turn from fun to serious to horror movie was great. I love that Leopold returned. And since the show needed a Simmons counterpart for him I rather love what they decided to go with:
"May I remind you that we came in here because your fascist shadow was trying to kill us!" - Simmons
"So you released the bloody Ringu monster that you keep in a box!?" - Fitz
LOL! She hit her with a pillow! I loved this turn a lot.
+ This exchange was perfect:
"I had no idea that you were holding onto all that." - Fitz
"That's the point. Don't let anyone know, that's the whole idea." - Simmons
"You are so English." - Fitz
+ I love that FitzSimmons are so in tune that they had the friends realisation at the same time. I love that it was Mack that Fitz called and Daisy that Jemma called because that feels most true to their relationships.
+ "Yeah, well, that's what 'til death do us part' means. You don't get a free pass because I died once already." I loved how the entire FitzSimmons fight, throughout the episode but especially in the isolation pod, was a perfect mix of emotional and funny.
+ The Leopold/Ringu!Jemma make-out reveal was great. A nice bit of fun after all that angst. This episode did really well at managing tone.
+ I loved that Enoch chose to go rogue and save FitzSimmons.
+ Simmons last little revelation: "you're a grandfather" was fun. I can't wait for this Fitz to meet Deke, and I hope for both their sakes that they get an entire different, and perhaps better, relationship this time.
+ I loved Mack's reaction to learning that Fitz really was alive. You can see that a part of him really hadn't believed, or hadn't allowed himself to. I love the way he keeps laughing to himself.
+ "Here, yeah. You kind of stepped on my moment there but yeah." - Mack Heeee. See: the tone of this episode is so perfectly done. Mack trying to be so serious and ominous and Dasiy impatiently ignoring it.
