Stay in Control

+ After last season spent all that time bringing this group together and ended with them choosing each other (in a moment that felt joyful) I find it so sad to see them fall apart like this and so quickly. Lea was absolutely right when she pointed out that Martin's 'us' rang hollow when three of their people weren't even there. I feel skeptical but I really want this season to end with them all together and reaffirming their bond.

+ I love Lea's faith in Simone and her refusal to leave with Jean being "I'm not leaving Simone". I hurt for her when the lie was revealed and how devastated she was by it. In the long run this could be good because Simone is only a person and it's not good to have people on pedestals. The fact that she wondered what Simone thought of Martin's plan during their confrontation and then immediately left to find Simone speaks well to the chances of their relationship healing.

But on the other hand while we've gotten some great Lea -> Simone content, this season has been lacking in Simone caring about anyone other than Rasmus or Martin. We've barely gotten any Simone/Lea - a hug when Simone left for her house is all that sticks out - and Simone's reaction when Lea came to her, the fact that she didn't bother to listen to anything she had to say and rushed out made me so sad for Lea. I really want a scene showing that Simone cares too.

+ The parallel's between Lea and Rasmus are interesting in that Lea's unconditional belief in her (and Martin's) ended up broken this episode. When Sarah frees Rasmus he tells her "Simone would never do that", his faith unshaken. And yet he still escapes with her. Meanwhile Frederick's words that she might have to kill Rasmus are haunting Simone, perhaps fuelling her even more than usual laser focus on protecting Rasmus by trying to cure him. It makes me think the season could end with her killing him, or trying to, for the greater good.

+ The confrontation with Martin was such a great Lea moment. She was sad and defeated, and still feeling defeated, but as soon as he brought up his plan she was having none of it. I loved her refusing to go along with it.

+ Martin thinking for a second that Apollon won't kill them all once they turn Rasmus over is rather dumb.
