The Good Place 4x01 & 4x02 Thoughts

Good premiere.
+ Eleanor/Michael were wonderful as always. I loved his pep talk to her - it was so lovely, such a great pep talk. I love his belief in her. That moment at the cocktail party where she grumpily mutters as she walks away ("Wish you were a cake. Push you over", hee) was great. I loved Michael asking what curses she was using when she went off on Team Cockroach. I liked him defending her to the others and just them working together as partners is wonderful to watch.
+ I'm not sure that I buy that Michael faked his breakdown to get Eleanor to step up. It does make sense and it is something I can see him doing (especially if he saw it as a way to protect Team Cockroach) but I'm skeptical. He had good reason for that breakdown and it feels like it's just as likely that he lied to Eleanor.
+ "I mean I wasn't getting any use out of him as a boyfriend so why not pass him off to someone in need." Heh. Last season, while I enjoyed Eleanor/Chidi as individual moments how their love story played out as a whole did not work for me at all and I was nervous going into this season about how things would go. Thus far I'm pleased. We haven't got a lot but I loved Eleanor setting Chidi and Simone up as soulmates and more importantly her smile and being okay with doing so. I am so glad that they don't seem to be going the jealousy route (fingers crossed) and I'm excited going forward to see how Eleanor and Chidi (and Simone) play off each other.
+ I'm pretty sure that Chidi is going to somehow be the gang's biggest problem. They uncovered Chris far too easily and Shaun's protestations at Chidi taking his place weren't strenuous enough. This is exactly what Shaun wanted, I'm sure.
+ "But whatever you do, you'll be doing it with your friends." - Tahani to Jason. Awww! Loved the hug, loved that it was Tahani. Very sweet moment. I also loved the Eleanor/Jason high-five despite his sadness.
+ Simone was great and I loved her unexpected reaction.
+ I loved all the demon Michael moments - pinata goo and demon team cheer.
+ Michael stalling when he got to Jason was amusing but also Jason absolutely has great characteristics (he's supportive and optimistic, gives unexpectedly good advice at times) and has helped the group and I'm slightly offended on his behalf. On the other hand Michael's exasperation with Jason amuses me a lot.
