My Shot
It was really nice to see everyone gathered to support Meredith. I loved Alex going above and beyond by bringing in so many of the patients she saved to speak for her, and gathering written testimonials from other doctors who couldn't be there [Callie, Arizona, April, Addison (!)]. Cristina's letter! I loved it. ♥ She can't be there but I'm so glad the show gave her a voice in this important moment in Meredith's life. I love how hard Alex fought for her. (Now if only they can have some scenes together again!)
I love how much Richard has, and does, fight for Meredith. She's his family ♥ I loved the hug and I hope the show doesn't go back to ignoring their relationship. He's going through a hard time, let Mere be there for him!
I loved the Richard/Bailey confrontation. It was a necessary and much needed clearing of the air. "Meredith's family. ... I stuck my neck out for her because I knew she would do the same for me. And until recently I thought you would too." Ouch but true. I hope this episode is the start of a healing of Bailey's relationship with Richard.
I realise that Bailey is pissed off at Meredith (over breaking the law and everything that happened because of it) and apparently jealous of her but her first testimony was ridiculous and uncalled for. I mean to the point the she refused to acknowledge that Bailey was named for her? Now that is a betrayal. That said I did love her speech at the end. I agreed with everything she said.
Bailey giving Meredith her job back felt more strategic than like forgiveness. It makes sense - people quit because of her firing and rehiring her would also help counteract Meredith's 'article'. But I really hope the show puts in the effort of rebuilding their relationship.
I'm annoyed that Meredith has her same job back at Grey Sloan just like that. It leaves me feeling like what was even the point? This makes Qadri's firing even dumber and nonsensical. Plus honestly, I wanted her to go over to Pac North to work for Alex. Considering that he got fired for her it makes sense that she'd join him at his new job and help him make his hospital better (which would tie into her crusade). Before eventually returning to Grey Sloan probably. I'm a little surprised that he hadn't already claimed dibs on her.
The Meredith/DeLuca break-up wasn't unexpected and I like how they did it. I like that he left their eventual future up to her while also standing up for himself. It's clear that he is a lot more invested in them than she is and I'm not sure that's going to change. Meredith wondered if he was just fun and honestly I think he is. Also she was pretty harsh when she told him they wouldn't survive her losing her license but she was also being 100% honest which is important. I think them breaking up now and like this is for the best
Link was super sweet with Amelia in the observation room.
Poor Schmidt. It wasn't his fault, he was doing his job! I was upset at him being ostracised by the others and Helm walking out without looking at him.
I find it very hard to believe that the guy who's mistake killed the world renowned Dr. Derek Shepherd wouldn't remember his wife the renowned Dr. Meredith Grey. Like, that should have been seared in his brain.
