The Hawaladar [No. 162]
+ I am definitely interested in the overarching plot of what the hell happened in the past between these people. That scene between Katarina and Ilya after he tried to kill himself was excellent. I really enjoyed it. Katarina's frustration and grief and anger was so well played and it definitely came off as Ilya being sad for hurting her even though he didn't regret it. So once again the big question becomes who the hell is Red? And why would Ilya choose loyalty to him over Katarina?
+ Katarina brushes aside Dom's betrayal as "at least he thought he was protecting Masha" which made me think: didn't Ilya promise Katarina he'd protect Masha too? If Ilya made that promise then how in the hell did Red end up taking over that role instead? Has Ilya ever been involved in Liz's life?
+ Red threatening poor Glenn was a great scene. Red was intense and Glenn was obviously frightened. And it is scary because you know that Red absolutely would kill Glenn if he did something Red saw as a betrayal and Glenn knows it too. Also Red was just being unnecessary cruel in his smackdown. I'm glad the next time Red visited Glenn he took a conciliatory tone though the start of that maybe apology wasn't a very good apology. I was a little surprised by Glenn's tone and that he wasn't more upset but then thinking on it of course he would be friendly and light and reiterate his loyalty to Red ('always bet on the red') after what happened. It makes me wonder if there could be consequences down the line for this.
+ I loved Red stealing the Hawaladar's money and then lending it back to him at 19% interest. I enjoyed him using the Task Force to get him.
+ Katarina trying to manipulate Liz into being to blame for Agnes's drawing was a bit yikes. I'm really glad that Liz didn't fall for it and investigated the situation more.
+ Why didn't Liz collect a dna sample from the hair/blood on the mirror? Even if it ended up leading no where it would have been the smart move to make.
+ I hope this whole memory extractor subplot inadvertently leads to Liz getting back her repressed memories back.
+ Katarina taking Ilya to her apartment - right next to Liz, in a building watched by FBI - seems like a very dumb move.
