Yesterday and The Equalizer 2

Yesterday
It was cute.
+ It proceeded along a very predictable path (love over fake fame) but it was a nicely done path. And I liked the slightly weird basis of the movie and kind of wanted to know more about what had changed (no Beatles, smoking, Harry Potter, coca-cola).
+ I thought Jack was very likeable. I can’t really blame him for taking the chance to make his dream come true even if it was deceiving everyone and I liked the combination of him enjoying the acclaim and love, and him feeling awkward/bad about it and increasingly isolated.
+ I loved his meeting with the other two Beatles fans (apparently Leo and Liz) and how that played out. I liked that they were both just deeply thankful that he brought the Beatles music back into the world. I liked the scenes of him struggling to remember the lyrics and his abashedness when they criticized some of his mistakes.
+ The John Lennon scene was nice.
+ Jack/Ellie were sweet.
+ I also liked Rocky and the fact that for all that he annoyed Jack intensely at the beginning he became a true and firm friend by the end, and remained such a close friend to them he was hanging out with their family in the flash forward.
+ I like to think that Jack secretly ends up writing Harry Potter.
+ I want a fic about a well-trod conspiracy theory that springs up post his confession where people think that he actually did write all those songs but the fame and pressure got to be too much and/or he wanted to be with Ellie who wanted a quiet life. Rocky probably posts enthusiastically about how true the theories are (and believes it himself). Possibly Jack remembers a few more songs and releases them anonymously but everyone still thinks it's him and it only makes the conspiracy stronger.
The Equalizer 2
I liked it.
+ I liked Robert helping people and just genuinely being kind to those around him.
+ I liked his little side story with Miles a lot. I was confused that the gang didn’t retaliate. That is not what media told me happens when someone turns a gun on a gang. Perhaps the plot for the third movie?
+ I liked Robert and Susan’s friendship. I was a little meh at first about Susan’s murder but then I thought, yeah I hate when women are killed to motivate men (for revenge) but on the other hand, if Susan was a man would that have made it better? It would have just removed the most prominent female character. And I did love that his BFF was a woman, and I liked her as a character, and I liked that she got to be competent (immediately picking up that it was a murder, how she fought back when she was attacked) and in the end concluded that despite hating the trope I liked how it was used in this instance.
+ One thing that did feel off to me was Robert’s lack of relationship with the men who used to be his team (Kovac, Ari, Resnik). We got a bit of the friendship between Robert and Dave but the other three were supposedly also part of their team but felt more like random goons Dave picked up later.
