Revenge 1x11 Review

I loved it. Amazing episode.
• Emily is so awesome. I love her. The fact that she set the whole Tyler situation up – including planting Frank’s wallet on him and setting Tyler up for his murder – was amazing. “You never cease to amaze and... terrify me, maestro.” So true!
- It would be utterly fascinating to watch Emily go up against Katherine from The Vampire Diaries. Fascinating.
• After the previous episode’s break-up between Nolan and Emily I was expecting it to lead somewhere very different then where it actually went. Instead of it created more distance between them we got the world’s shortest break-up ever and then a whole episode of the two of them become closer then they have ever been. It was completely unexpected but I loved it. They were like legit best friends! It was adorable and heart-warming! Their first scene with them conspiring together at the side of the pool was the best. I watched their scenes several times.
- “Apparently when you have a fight with a friend you’re supposed to apologise.” – Emily. I found this... shocking. Not only is it Emily approaching Nolan to mend things but we get her calling him a friend, making a joke and then when called on it actually telling him “I’m sorry”! I’ve always thought the Nolan got to Emily more than she let it appear, and this was especially noticeable during the break-up scene, but her going so suddenly from holding him at arm’s length and being hostile to actively letting him in was just... unanticipated.
I suppose him turning away from her could have pushed her into realising how important he was to her, and that’s what I’m hoping happened, but I also think that this could turn out to be another one of her games/acting. I really hope not because that would make me sad. BFF Emily and Nolan are wonderful and I want to keep them.
Unfortunately their interactions during the engagement party flash-forward indicated a distance between them that does not seem to match where they are in their relationship this episode. This is why I figured the break-up was going to be serious. So there are several options: 1) they break-up again in the future, 2) things may have been tense, perhaps because he wasn’t following her plan, but they are actually still BFF, 3) Nolan figures out that Emily has really been playing him and is pissed and they had a fight.
- I loved this:
“I thought it was only for friends and family.” – Nolan
“Well then that means you qualify.” – Emily
Awww! He was all sad about being excluded and Emily realised it and said the right thing and her little smile and his grin! ♥
- Also I loved his fear/panic for her when he was tied up. And the way that he forgave her so easily.
• I loved Emily setting up the shamu cam in her house because I love the idea Nolan playing guardian angel at her request.
• I find that I’m kind of going to miss Tyler. He was great and his unhingedness was very fun to watch.
• I liked the small exchange between Emily and Amily when Tyler was walking around with the gun – a short exchange of glances and then Emily shaking her head at Amily.
• Why would Tyler put the gun to Emily’s head instead of say Charlotte who was sitting right beside him? I’m pretty sure that Conrad would care a lot more about his daughter then his son’s girlfriend of a couple months. I guess Tyler’s grudge against Emily was enough of a reason?
• “We sure know how to pick them hmm?” – Nolan. Hmm. This little exchange between Nolan and Ashley intrigues me.
• Wait, so David was murdered in prison? Huh. There has to be more to that.
• “He’s not a monster Emily, he’s sick. It’s called empathy you might want to try it some time.” – Ashley. I liked this moment. The Emily/Ashley friendship has really cooled down and I think Emily should probably try to do some damage control there.
