Ascendance of a Bookworm

I watched the first 14 episodes, or season 1, and the OVA and enjoyed them. I wasn't really sold on the first episode but I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
+ I liked that Myne had to go through a bunch of different methods to finally make paper and wasn't successful immediately.
+ I like Myne's relationship with her family. Her father and his jealousy can be pretty ridiculous. I also like her friendship with Lutz. He took learning the truth surprisingly well.
+ I wasn't a huge fan of Benno at first because I felt like he was taking advantage of Myne but by the end of the season I loved him. His awkward love for Myne is really sweet. I loved their negotiation scene in the OVA.
+ I like that Myne and Frieda struck up a genuine friendship. I thought it might go in the direction of Frieda as the stuck-up rich girl who acts as a rival/problem for Myne. This is much better. I love how similar Frieda and Myne are and how everyone keeps commenting on it.
+ Frieda being forced to accept a deal to become a rich man's concubine at 15 in order to survive, and being considered one of the lucky ones, is horrible and I hope she's somehow able to get out of it.
+ When Myne first attacked the priest I wondered if she'd been possessed by a Goddess at first. Myne being so powerful was interesting. Does the high priest being unable to fight back mean he doesn't have any mana himself? I'm really surprised that if these kids are so powerful there isn't a better system set up to press them into service.
+ The High Priest is the worst. His rapid and extreme change in behaviour once he met Myne's parents surprised me. That was a pretty determined effort to be as much of a dickhead as he could.
+ Myne using her knowledge from her original more advanced culture to improve her life makes sense. But some of her 'inventions' left me skeptical. So no one in this time thought to put a stick in your hair to hold it up? That seems unlikely. Also her shampoo recipe seems very wrong. I'm pretty sure that would simply make hair oily and shiny not clean and shiny.
+ I hope the next season has more about the magic and magical creatures/plants of this world.
