WandaVision Episodes 1 - 4 Thoughts

+ Wanda and Vision are cute together and this is the most they have ever worked for me.
+ I have to say I wasn’t super impressed with Elizabeth Olson’s acting as Wanda in the movies (for the most part) and the casting of her felt like one of the few casting missteps the MCU has made. But I’ve been enjoying her a lot here and I think she’s been acting the hell out of the role. She's had some genuinely really great moments. I love her reactions every time things start to go wrong and the fabric of this strange world starts tearing.
+ I thought they nailed the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s sitcoms look and feel they were going for. I liked the decision to make every episode a different era of television. It’s a weird concept but they committed to it and it ended up working really well.
+ My favourite parts were all the deeply unsettling little moments where we see how wrong everything is. My favourites were:
- Mrs. Hart's laughing 'stop it' to her husband getting increasing agitated and then turning to her begging Wanda 'stop it'. A+ on the creepy scale.
- The doctor’s "Small towns... So hard to escape." line to Vision.
- Herb cutting through the wall with his hedge trimmer and then staring down Vision and continuing to do so even after Vision points it out.
It's all creepy in a way I'm very much enjoying.
+ I loved Wanda’s mentioning Pietro and being a twin as she sadly looked down on her new twins. I'd be very happy if this show actually really addressed that loss.
+ The Agnes/Herb scene in episode 3 was very interesting. I figured Agnes knew more than she was letting on but Herb? And the desperate way she looked at Herb when she thought he was going to tell Vision whatever it is they know was surprising to me. Why was she so desperate?
Episode 4
I loved this episode.
+ It did something I really love and have wanted to see more of – characters from the different parts of the MCU coming together. Darcy (Thor), Jimmy (Ant-Man) and Monica (Captain America) - it's great!
+ Darcy and Jimmy are fun together.
+ I loved the reveal that Darcy went back to school and got a degree in Astrophysics, yay. So pleased about that.
+ I loved Jimmy’s card flip introduction to Monica. I’m choosing to believe that Scott did in fact teach him it.
+ I loved the reveal that Maria created SWORD.
+ I’m really sad Maria died off-screen. She may have believed there was a chance her daughter would return (which I am glad about) but she didn’t know and she never got to see her again. Nor did she get to see Carol. Boo.
+ That shot of dead Vision was pretty horrifying. Honestly I’d love it if it’s revealed in the end that he’s not actually real but a simulacrum Wanda created to live out her fantasy and in the end he dies again.
