The Spell of the Burning Bride
I loved George actually going to Nancy and hugging her. By her own choice! To offer comfort. ♥ And then she kept an arm around her and her other hand on Nancy's arm. This is how you know George loves Nancy and it makes me happy. The lead up to that was excellent too. Them trying to cheer Nancy up and George going "yeah, thumbs up emoji", which leads to Bess giving her a confused wtf face and George is all embarrassed and 'idk' about saying that was adorable.
I love that not once did George get possessive of Nick or jealous of Nancy's attraction to him. I was fully expecting when she told Nancy that it was okay to 'want one, or two' that she would follow it up with something like "except for Nick". But nope. It never came up and honestly that was so great.
The scene where Nancy came on to Ace was delightful. I loved everything about that - her running her hands through his hair and marvelling on it's softness, the way he immediately figures out the dress was a net and Nancy immediately being on the same page as him and understanding what he was getting at.
I liked the reveal that Celia hired Valentina to discover Ryan's secret. She didn't get the right secret but still an explosive one and I'm very curious about what she's going to do with the information. Family and their good name seem very important to her but I have no idea what way she's going to go with it. Nancy's family, her first grand-child, but Nancy is also a) an out-of-wedlock baby with an infamous and inappropriate mother, and b) Nancy who is the reason behind their current problems.
I feel bad for Ryan who seems like he really likes Valentina. That betrayal is going to hurt.
I liked that little moment of painful honesty from George when she confronted Odette about getting drunk and arrested and the bad memories it brought up about her mother.
Nancy's lust vision was very amusing. I love that the show did sex pollen.
The Nancy vs George fight was pathetic but funny.
I liked how frantic Nick got when he realised Nancy might have been poisoned.
I liked the little Ace/Bess moment where she tweaked him about abandoning his chaperone duties. I also really pleased that he opened up to her about his brother.
I knew they were going to go in a Bess/Odette direction. Their scenes were nice, especially that hand moment, but at the same time it felt like they were moving a little too fast with them. I wish there had been a little more build-up.
Wait, did Bess and Lisbeth break up then? Because last we saw they were still together, Bess stood her (and her parents) up at dinner and nothing else has been mentioned since. Did I miss something? Because I feel like that needs at least a line of dialogue!
The episode opened with Nancy talking about wanting to be a journalist but I wonder if detective/private investigator wouldn't be a better choice.
I liked the Nancy/Tamura interactions. I liked him opening up to her and the understanding they came too.
So the show is definitely setting up a Gil/Nancy/Tamura triangle. I like how the two guys kind of represent the two sides of her - Tamura the detective who wants to solve mysteries and help people and Gil someone with a painful past with a parent and who is willing to break rules/laws to get what he wants/needs.
