5x09 'Family Dinner'
+ Oh, Lucifer. He really is his own worst enemy.
+ The family dinner was great. My favourite part was Linda and Amendiel's desperate drinking during it
+ I loved Chloe realising that Lucifer’s current distance was family issues related because he immediately projected his emotional turmoil on the case, as he always does, and she knows exactly how this all works. Delightful.
+ Amenadiel and Linda's supportiveness of each other around the dinner was great. I loved his "You did so much better than I would have done" over the toast.
+ God is very bad at communicating. For example, he made that final exchange with Michael so much worse than it needed to be. Why would he say "you're no longer welcome on Earth" thus opening up the interpretation that he was being banished (Amenadiel) and punished (Michael) when it really didn't need to go that way? Literally anything else would be better! Why not tell him that he wants to try and talk with Lucifer without the conflict between the brothers interfering?
+ I like how God is portrayed in this episode. He feels very - ineffable.
5x10 'Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam'
+ The musical numbers were fun.
+ Lucifer not being burned by the fire left me wondering if I'd missed or forgotten a reveal that Chloe no longer causes him to be vulnerable? Neither of them seemed surprised by it so I guess so?
+ I disliked Dan's meeting with God. I am so over him being used as this butt-monkey comic relief. I don't buy it would take him so long to figure out he was God nor that he'd react in that way. I did like his scene with Amenadiel and his reaction to the reveal about Charlotte/the Goddess though I would like to get a more serious reaction when he's had to time to consider it more.
+ I loved that little moment where Lucifer smilingly agrees with God that the musical number was indeed fun before remembering that he doesn't like him. I also enjoyed God during his shadowing of Lucifer doing his job and Lucifer's long-suffering reaction to it.
+ God really was an asshole when Lucifer was taking him around the precinct. Judgmental and passive-aggressive. Suddenly Lucifer's complaints about his father were very understandable. Before that scene I bought that it was miscommunication in large part and God as this unknowable being with an unknowable plan but that was just being a dick.
+ Amenadiel's reveal that he does think angels are better than humans came out of nowhere for me. I thought his whole issue with human!Charlie was all the potential pain and hurt, and eventual death Charlie would face if he was human, so where that conversation went took me by surprise.
+ I liked Chloe, respectfully, giving God a piece of her mind about him being a bad father.
