Lost in Space Season 1
Aug. 21st, 2021 10:25 pmI liked it fine. Don't really have anything much to say about it though.
+ Having there be a group of survivors was okay but in the end my main interest was in the relationship amongst the Robinson family and I wish we'd spent more time strictly with them. I loved what we got with Judy and Penny in the first episodes and wanted more time spent on them. I liked John recognising Judy's ptsd and supporting her. I liked Maureen's protectiveness of Will.
+ I don't have a favourite character. I thought it might be Penny - I loved her cutting open her mom's leg, her desperation to save her sister and their scenes, and her taking the vehicle to save the family - but after those first few episodes she didn't get much interesting to do. I like Maureen a lot. In general I simply like the family as a whole and am most interested in their relationships with each other.
+ I enjoyed watching the family working together to solve problems.
+ I liked the alien robot and how Will won him over. Will forcing him to walk over the cliff was harsh and I would have held a grudge too. It saving him against one of it's own kind was a great moment though.
+ I liked John having Will make the rock cairn memorial for the people killed in the robot's attack.
+ Don is fine. His love for his chicken is rather endearing. I loved his care instructions for her and that he took a lucky feather into space. But overall - eh.
+ I'm pretty neutral on 'Dr. Smith'. I enjoy her interactions with Maureen the most and am interested in seeing where things go between them.
+ "Would you like me to change the laws of physics or just lie to you?" Heh. I loved this response to Victor trying the cliché ‘do it in less time than you said it would take’.
+ Why was there no one in the control room with Maureen during the launch? Why did none of the other people seem to care that Dr. Smith seemingly sabotaged the launch and kidnapped Maureen? I don't understand why Judy went alone to save her mother. Why didn't they tell Will the truth about Dr. Smith? There were a lot of times I was left going 'but why?'
+ The situation with Evan would have worked better for me if Evan had survived I think.
+ Will telling the robot to 'be bad' again instead of trying to get it to defend itself first. Literally try 'defend yourself' or 'I take back my order to never harm anyone'. I mean there's a range between refusing to protect yourself from death and being bad. Kids.
+ Will: I’m going to need an hour.
John: And if I help?
Will: Two hours.
LOL
