It was okay and did feel like a fitting end to the show. I think I was just ready for the series to be done.
I really enjoyed how the situation with the rings/mothers was finally discovered and resolved. Ha-won and Ji-woon wearing the rings was exactly where I expected it to end and it as lovely.
The only issue I had with the ring/mothers was Ha-won and Ji-woon's sudden shared memory of the funeral complete with keepsakes. It was too much to suddenly throw in in the finale. That really should have been alluded to earlier.
I liked that the final scene was the entire gang having a picnic and enjoying being together.
Ha-won/Ji-woon continued to be adorable. I loved their final scene bickering over Ha-won having taken her ring off. Her "Also, no touching? Huh. Let’s just see who suffers more from that." made me lol and his expression when he realised was great.
I liked that Hyun-min and Ha-won got some more scenes in these final episodes. I like that it was him that was with her when they learned that Ji-woon might not wake up and I liked their discussion later on where Hyun-min gave her advice on love.
I liked the little mini-arc with Hyun-min and Yoon-sung. Hyun-min's furious sense of betrayal made a lot of sense as did Yoon-sung not trying to defend himself. I loved Hyun-min tracking Yoon-sung down after he learnt the truth to apologise for not trusting him and "I want to protect you as much as you wanted to protect Haneul group." and bringing him home.
I wish we'd gotten more of Hyun-min and Yoon-sung fighting over Haneul Group. I liked Hyun-min stepping up as heir and fighting to save his grandfather's place in the company but I wanted him to do more. I don't know what it would look like but something more than simply talking to a group of board members. I wanted the show to finally show us that Hyun-min actually could be a good heir to the company. Oh, well. Not that type of show.
There was a very strange lack of reaction to Yoon-sung's 'betrayal' from anyone but Hyun-min. Ji-woon was in a coma so he's excused but I'd have liked something more from Seo-woo and anything from Ha-won.
So what I got from Hwa-ja's reaction is that Yoon-sung set the board meeting up somehow to fail? I thought his vote would be for Chairman Kang and that it would end up being the deciding vote but then not so much. Instead the vote was going to fail all along? I missed some stuff I guess but I don't care enough to go and rewatch. I am glad that he wasn't actually supporting his mom's ambitions
I wish we'd had a scene between Chairman Kang, Yoon-sung and Hwa-ja. It was nice to see Hyun-min forgiving him but I really wanted that moment between Chairman Kang and Yoon-sung.
Ha-won and her family's little reconciliation dinner was nice I guess. But I'm not really buying it happening that easily. At no point have either of them seemed the slightest bit repentant about their terrible behaviour towards Ha-won. That said I did like the implication that all of them, even Yoo-na, were making tentative steps to maybe becoming a family.
Once it became obvious that Chairman Kang hadn't changed his mind on Ha-won after the surgery I was expecting it would take Ji-woon choosing to walk away from the family to pursue happiness with Ha-won, the opposite choice of his father, to change his mind and I'm a little surprised that it was Ji-woon begging and opening up to his grandfather about his love and hurt that did it.
I found it a little strange that we had all this lead up to Ji-woon confronting his grandfather about his mother and then he never actually does.
I liked that both Yoon-sung and Hwa-ja tried to protect each other and take all the blame.
Seo-woo deciding to give up his career to become a street performer again came out of no where for me. Sure, he was always very busy but he didn't seem unhappy about that? In fact he seemed to thrive on it and enjoyed his life. So I don't get this as an ending for him.
I wish at the end there had been some mention of Ha-won going to university. That was where she started the series so it would have been nice if she'd ended the series finally getting what she'd so strongly wanted from the beginning.
