Episode 22

One of my favourite parts of the episode was actually Zishu and Xiang. They haven't really had much focus but they had several moments I enjoyed here. Zishu actually teasing Xiang about her relationship (with that smile!) was adorable. I loved him interceding when Kexing was being too snarky with her. And then there was that final conversation. I loved Xiang defiantly drinking the alcohol only to spit it out and Zishu laughing. He was so relaxed in this scene, it was lovely to see. I loved him scaring her and then laughing over it. I loved Xiang concern for both Kexing and Zishu's well-being over Zishu's illness.

I really love Zishu's protectiveness of Kexing. I love that he respects him enough to not intercede when Shen comes out but to let him approach the situation as he wants/needs. But as soon as Kexing is physically distressed he's right there by his side. Even better, when Kexing is unconscious and vulnerable Zishu is there to step between him and the world (in this case Shen), an unmovable rock protecting him. I also loved him chiding Shen on using 'Yan' and asking him to respect Kexing's chosen name.

Zishu absolutely suspects that Kexing is the leader of Ghost Valley after Kexing's slip on the pier and I rather love his low-key response. I thought it might be a dramatic reveal but he accepts the knowledge without trying to force Kexing to admit it.

The way Kexing cried out 'Ah Xu', in so much pain. The rage and grief and despair - ):

Okay, I am very worried about Kexing now. Coughing up blood is kind of upsetting! I find myself thinking about how when people enter the Ghost Valley they have to drink the Lethe water to remove their memories - except Kexing very clearly has his strongest memories. Is there something here to explain what's happening to Kexing? Here as soon as Shen asked if he was Zhen Yan he was in pain. It seems when he gets very emotional/thinks about his past it starts to affect him physically. Did he drink the Lethe but overcame it somehow and now it's killing him? There's been all this focus on Zishu and his illness and I'm left wondering if it's all a smoke screen and Kexing is dying too. Oh, man, are they going to do a twist where Zishu survives but Kexing is the one to die? Is this a tragedy? ):

Kexing and Xiang's post-murder little moment was adorable as hell. Xiang's shrugged "it's someone else's (blood)" - like Master, like Disciple (Kexing's shrug at Zishu for killing all the Scorpions was great too.) I really loved his smile in reply, and tapping her forehead with his fan, and her ducked head grin. Love.

The whole family meeting was great. Xiang and Weining's loving smiles at each other, unhappy Kexing fuming (lol), "how come I didn't know you can take good care of people' and Zishu's warning 'Lao Wen' - heh.

Loved the Xiang/Weining/Chengling vs Scorpions fight. Both Xiang and Weining were amazing. I was so proud of Chengling and how well he did. He's grown so much!

I loved how protective Xiang was of Chengling.

I love how Xiang knew something was up with the waiter and acted immediately and that she was right when she instinctively killed the beggar. She might not realise why she acts on her feelings but she has great instincts.

I really like that Weining wasn't disapproving or angry at Xiang for killing the beggar but was instead mostly worried about her even though he also clearly disagreed with her actions.

Shen Shen calling Kexing 'Yan' made me surprisingly sad. He obviously knew him as a kid. He's been having a really tough time lately and just got hit with several more really painful blows (the Zhen's are dead, Yan grew up terribly and alone and hates him, Zhao Jing might have been behind everything).

Continuing to enjoy Xie Wang/Zhao Jing. Continue to want Xie Wang to go his own way and survive.
