Episode 32

+ I don't believe for a second that Kexing is dead. Even beyond the fact that it's only episode 32 there is not a chance. This is absolutely part of his greater plan and the biggest question I have is who exactly is in the know? Who was working with Kexing to pull this off? Kexing was very vehement in trusting Scorpion and being betrayed but I'm definitely not buying that. We didn't see their initial meeting and alliance for a reason. This was something they are doing together. The ghosts all have loyalty to one or the other, though how much any individual knows is uncertain. Qianqiao I feel might.

The biggest questions are Chengling and Baiyi. Both their actions are believable to a degree. Chengling absolutely has reason to feel betrayed and he's impulsive enough maybe to lash out without thinking of the consequences fully or comprehending past his rage/grief. Meanwhile Baiyi did promise to kill Kexing, his goal has always been to wipe out the Ghost Valley and he has planned to kill Kexing before.

And yet I'm not buying it.

a) We've seen Baiyi fight before, we've seen him fight Kexing, and we know that he can defeat him rather quickly when he wants to. Instead we got a long and, more importantly, impressive and cinematic fight between them. Almost staged to look good.

b) Shen Shen has been MIA but he knows the truth about Zhao Jing. We know he does. Would he support his traitorous brother?

c) Chenling, Shen Shen and Xie Wang standing up to toast Zhao Jing and support him as leader felt so off. Shen Shen was practically trying to murder him with his eyes. Xie Wang's smile was so false. For Chengling of everyone to make that toast first made me go hmmm.

d) Chengling has in fact had time with this betrayal knowledge even if he hadn't yet been able to confront them about it. He is in general a very good and kind boy. He loves and respects both Kexing and Zishu and I can see him wanting to confront them but to jump to killing over it? No. Not them.

+ Zishu showing up to stand by Kexing's side and telling Kexing "save it" before he could even say anything. Announcing to everyone that Kexing never lied to him. Choosing to side with Kexing is front of the world. And then him jumping over the side of the cliff - to save him? To die with him? It's so good.

+ Oh, Zishu. Him lamenting how he thought to gently persuade Lao Wen away from revenge but that he hadn't truly understood how he felt until now that he is living those feelings himself - :( And then him embracing death by removing the nails so he could get revenge and then join him in death.

+ I love that Zishu and Kexing changed each other so profoundly. They gave each other a reason to want to live, to be better, even to care about others in the world.

+ "The world is not important. My soulmate is." Oh boy. Zishu is going to go on a revenge rampage isn't he? I can't help but feel like this is all going to go terribly but a grief-stricken Zishu going on a rage-filled revenge spree before his inevitable death (all while Kexing is alive and has some plan in motion that Zishu doesn't know about) sounds honestly amazing. I can't wait.

+ It was only a couple episodes back that Zishu told Kexing to never act without him again - and now he's done it in such a major way! Considering Zishu's injuries I get why Kexing wouldn't say anything at first but to leave Zishu in the dark, ouch. Kexing is lucky that the next time they meet Zishu is going to be so overcome with relief and joy that he's alive or he would be in so much trouble.

+ I keep imagining Kexing jumping up after Zishu set the room on fire and desperately patting flames off his clothes as he tries to escape, and then laughing. It's the least he deserves for letting Zishu think he died!

+ Zishu asked Xiang/Weining to take his 18 disciples to Prince Qi made me wince because what about Chengling? I'm sure it's simply because of Chengling's precarious position currently but also - does Zishu blame Chengling for Kexing's death? Zishu is deeply empathetic and he understands Chengling's grief and the betrayal he must have felt. He loves Chengling. But if he was the direct cause of Kexing's death - would Zishu renounce him? I can't imagine it. It makes me so sad.

+ Once again Zishu planning to die for Kexing and being unable to imagine wanting to live without him is deeply romantic but also - you have responsibilities Zishu! He now has 19 disciples! Probably there is some duty towards Xiang (and Weining). What about passing on the knowledge of the Four Seasons Sect?

+ Xiang taking looking after Zishu so seriously was lovely. Her and Wu Xi teaming up to prevent him from drinking and his exasperation over it was cute.

+ Xiang falling unconscious against Weining after learning of Kexing's fate was utterly ridiculous. It looked deeply silly and fake, and I don't believe at all that's how she would react.

+ Poor Xie'er. He looked like he was going to cry when Zhao Jing acknowledged him as his son in front of everyone. It's everything he's ever wanted! And yet at this point he knows that he can't actually trust Zhao Jing, not his words or actions. And he's (possibly) already in the middle of a plan to destroy him.

+ Okay, Zhao Jing is the worst and absolutely would betray anyone but him promising Peng Juu to kill Xie'er while trying to placate him and prevent him from ruining his plans isn't really that much of a smoking gun imo? It's also very possible that they're just words.
