Shadow and Bone Episode 8

I loved Alina cutting the controlling piece of antler from Kirigan's hand when he offered it to her in alliance.
 Alina/Kirigan were great.
Alina absorbing the antlers after gaining control of her powers again was a wonderful visual representation of her victory.
That short Inej/Alina scene was excellent and I really want more in the next season. Alina gently touching Inej's wrist and Inej touching her hand back earnestly as she pledges herself to Alina was amazing. "Wherever you are, whatever you need, my hand is yours." ♥ I love it. Alina giving Inej her danger because she 'likes her hand with a dagger in it' and the way Inej is so obviously gleeful over the gift was also amazing. I think I ship them now.
 The Alina/Zoya goodbye was great.
After Alina and Kaz come to an agreement that has Alina walking away we see Inej in the background and she looks so overcome by him doing that and it was a lovely little moment. I also liked the way his eyes darted to her before accepting Alina's bribe.
"I need you." This Kaz is so open about his feelings for Inej even if she can't entirely see it. I've loved all the reactions of him watching Inej and reacting to her but some of the big stuff feels so off. Like him leaping out to save her from the Volcra with his cane which was just ridiculous.
I'm very torn on the Mal/Kirigan fight. It wasn't necessary at all, why was it there, but it made a nice denouement after their previous talk. Mal tricking Kirigan and then shooting him was great but the fact that Kirigan apparently missed hitting him (while that close) was dumb. But then he missed because of the injury Alina did to his hand which I love. And yet it's still stupid because the effects of the cut are noticeable and he seems like the type of person to attack again. But in the end Mal distracting him so 'his past' would take him out was excellent.
I thought for sure Alina would sense that Kirigan was alive when she stood looking at the Fold.
This final fight is so different from the book. Most interesting to me is that book!Alina makes a dark choice to abandon everyone on the skiff in order to escape but in show she doesn't need to. Here there were very few people even on it, almost no Grisha even, and all of them dead by hands other than her own. The other interesting point to me was that in the book the Darkling brought Mal along as a sacrifice whereas here Kirigan was going to let him go when he escaped from the camp and still doesn't kill him when he attacks on the ship (more interesting in using him as leverage.)
Zoya turning against Kirigan after he expands the Fold and saving Inej's life was a twist to the story I liked.
Jesper refusing to wait because Inej was up on the deck and in danger was lovely.
Why the heck were Alina and Mal on the same ship as the Crows? That was silly nonsense. They are specifically not going to the same place. Unless - I guess that's how they're planning on tying the Crows into the season 2 plot?
In the past Kirigan needed a healer to heal him when wounded, here Inej gets him in the chest with a dagger and it barely seems to affect him beyond the initial pain. A power up in the centuries between?
You know, if Alina can barely maintain the tunnel I really don't think she is able to destroy the Fold at this point.
Ivan attacking Alina was so dumb. I mean his overwhelming loyalty to Kirigan is great and all but they kind of need her for their survival! Make better choices, Ivan. (Even though he's a dick I'm sad that they killed him off early. I like his loyalty and also Freydor is going to be so sad now :( Stop killing reoccurring characters before their time show!)
