The Witch Tree Symbol
I can't believe the show is actually making me a little disappointed by making Nancy/Ace canon, lol. I was bummed by Nancy breaking it off with Park even though I was expecting it. I just really like them. Their moment in the orphanage with him clearly making his pitch for why she should choose him was great. I wish we could have gotten to actually see them as a couple.
I did love Ace/Nancy. I loved how supportive he was of her. Him reassuring her that Temperance played on weakness for mother-figures and that it wasn't her fault was lovely.
In general I like how the 'love triangle' was played this episode. There was some awkwardness and tension but mostly everyone acting like reasonable people. I liked how well Ace accepted her confession of avoidance and loved him telling her that he'd be there when she figured it out. I liked Park's calmness and acceptance when Nancy broke off their thing.
"There's good in the Hudson name too - in you, and Nancy." - Carson. Awww.
George in the background when Park suggested he, Nancy and Ace all go together as delightful as she was clearly finding the whole situation.
Bess noticing that something was wrong with Nick first was kind of surprising but considering how distracted the others are with romantic issues it does make sense. I loved her following Nick and not letting him brush her off.
I love that the orphanage come back into play and that we got an answer for what happened there.
I was amused that Carson guessed something was up when George kept offering them free things at the diner.
I'm worried about Ryan's mention of the Hudson curse because it was kind of thrown out there in a side scene and then not addressed again and it feels like something small that might actually mean a lot. There's all this talk about Temperance needing Nancy and their family relationship and meanwhile it has never once been brought up how Ryan is also her family. He has the same blood as Nancy, the same connection. Unless Nancy being female is important I find myself very worried about Ryan going into the finale. eta: wait, I forgot about the whole 7th generation thing, so okay. I'm still worried about Ryan.
I'm not worried about Ace at all. I very much doubt the show would kill. In fact, this is deeply convenient for the Drew Crew because now they are in fact one step ahead of Temperance instead of flailing around trying to find the last piece.
I liked Ryan's advice to George and offering his own perspective from being lied to for his whole life. That said it felt really weird to hear George say 'thank you' and to see them have this little moment. It honestly doesn't feel earned enough considering where they started this show at.
Nancy letting Darlene take the antlers with her was very ??? That seemed a little out of character, especially her not going to the basement to help with the translation. How very un-Nancy of her. Her current romantic drama is really throwing her.
I was also shaking my head at Nick and Bess going with one of the spells without trying to further narrow it down. It's magic and they should both know, especially Bess, that throwing it around without knowledge is a bad idea. Bess clearly knew it wasn't a good idea and I hope she starts learning to believe in herself.
