I liked it.
Casting and acting-wise I thought it was overall pretty good. Tom Sturridge was great as Dream. I loved Death, Lucienne, The Corinthian and Ethel. David Thewlis was creepy as hell as John Dee, excellent acting there. Desire was great. I liked Gilbert/Fiddler's Green, Cain/Abel, Rose and Unity, Calliope and Hob.
Lucifer ended up being a bit disappointing but was okay. Constantine was also only okay. I wish I'd liked both more.
I loved this portrayal of Death. She was so lovely and it was such a great take on the concept. I loved her relationship with Dream. I wish there'd been more of her. Her episode was one of the best.
One of the most anxious sequences by far was John Dee's car ride with Rosemary. I was so scared for her (and her dog) and was on the edge of my seat the entire time. So glad she survived.
I liked the Dream and Hob friendship and how the whole situation played out. I loved that even at his worst he loved life and never once wanted death.
I enjoyed Lucienne and Dream's relationship. I loved her unwavering devotion and loyalty to him but that she's also willing to stand up to him. I like that he actually does start to - not necessarily change but grow in part for/because of her - apologizing, rethinking his punishment of Gault - and just learning to appreciate her.
I loved that last exchange between Dream and Desire.
Gilbert's reaction to the cereal convention was great.
Jed's road trip with The Corinthian was weirdly creepy-fun/sweet? idk.
