I really enjoyed it. It's up there as one of my favourites of T. Kingfisher's books.
+ I liked Gerta a lot. I liked Janna. Mousebones was great. I loved him a lot. I loved his friendship with Gerta
+ I thought the Gerta/Janna romance was well done and sweet. I liked Gerta's affront that no one told her that girls could like girls.
+ I loved the old reindeer giving Gerta his hide and her transformation and run along the reindeer road. Also I loved the darkness of Janna having to slit Gerta's throat each time to make her human again. All of it was very fairytale in the best of ways.
+ I loved the three old women Gerta met along the way and the call back to three witches in tales/mythology.
+ I liked how Gerta's time dreaming with the garden witch ended up being essential to her beating the Snow Queen. I liked that in the end it wasn't her suddenly having the power to defeat the Snow Queen but that her journey along the way gave her the ability stand against her enough to weaponize someone who could.
+ I loved how stuck the hedges were on the birds and that it was the thought of losing them that brought about it's fury.
+ The giant otters were amazing and I loved them.
