Hae-young's realisation about where they were and then Soo-hyun's slow realisation about what Hae-young was digging up... and then the two of them using their hands to frantically uncover his bones together. ):

I was a little surprised that there wasn't a call to change the outcome of the Inju case. Actually no, I can understand why nothing changed because what happened to Sung-woo was so formative for Hae-young that without it he would be such a completely different person and very likely not even a cop (which might break reality.) But I am surprised at them not even being given the opportunity to attempt saving Sun-woo's life.

Unlike the other cases this one was basically a null with everything remaining unchanged from how the future remembers it. It's interesting how different each of the cases change or don't change things. The first was a net positive in that it saved one life and allowed her daughter to be born and possibly led to Jae-han's actions which stopped the killing. The second case went terribly wrong with Eun-ji dying, Kyung-tae's life ruined and an early death, and the innocent father being murdered. Lots of collateral there without the truth being revealed actually having no significant long term affects. Then with the third we get the most positive outcome with no outside casualties and lives saved.

I love how smart Jae-han is and him working out the truth even with almost everyone around him lying and stonewalling. I love how compassionate he is and how he fought to save Sun-woo from being scapegoated. I love his unwavering sense of justice and his epic determination which once again led him to pursuing a case even after it's been closed.

I'll give Hae-young a pass on not immediately calling it in since Chief Ahn did drop a pretty shocking bomb on him. I loved the reveal that Chief Ahn had heard Jae-han's voice and it freaked him the fuck out. I really wish that he'd actually pulled Hae-young aside after he'd confirmed the bones were still there to go 'wtf dude' at him. At the very least he could have spilled the truth before resigning! He had to know that was a death sentence. I liked him saying how deeply he regretted what he did and I still hope he manages to avoid this fate.

Sun-woo's desire for justice being what brought him to the attention of the conspirators and thus what led to him being named as 'the one' makes him tie in with Jae-han and his inability to let wrong/injustice go and how that puts him in the crossfire of powerful people. The same people even.

Not entirely unexpected per say but I'm sad about Jae-han's partner Jung-jae helping to fabricate the evidence. Jae-han was so betrayed and that whole confrontation was really sad.

I was so pleased that Hae-young called in Soo-hyun before pursuing his Sung-bum lead. This is how you do it.

Hae-young's shock and disbelief at Soo-hyun breaking into the house made me laugh. He was so appalled, lol. What did he think they were going to do there? I loved Soo-hyun's reply that she can get away with it because she's an old cop.

I feel so terrible for Hye-sung. I hope if/when the show revisits this case again we get a little more on her POV and a reveal that her life in the future is even somewhat better.

'The One' behind the gang rape - could it have been Senator Jang?
