The Mother

iaria+ The relationship between the Mother and Zoe was great. I liked Zoe suspecting right from the beginning the truth, I liked the slow and sometimes very painful getting to know each other and Zoe growing to understand and love her.
+ I loved the end with the Mother no longer in hiding and it being clear that she and Zoe have a continuing close and loving relationship with each other.
+ I liked how Sonya's place as Zoe's mother was respected throughout.
+ I liked William. I liked his interactions with the Mother. That moment when he's on his knees and he and the Mother stare at each other knowing he's about to die really worked for me. But I'm honestly surprised he died. I felt for sure it would end in a Mother/William romance. I thought even after he was shot it would be revealed he survived the gunshot.
+ William bringing up his sister in that he gave the Mother her clothes to wear to his ease with Sonya to how Zoe clearly knows, trusts and loves him made me assume that Sonya was his sister only to realise at the end that it wasn't actually stated.
+ Zoe's dad is such a nothing character it's weird. Why wasn't he there when Zoe was returned at the end?
