Hidden Strike Thoughts
Jan. 5th, 2024 11:12 pmIt was dumb but I had fun which is the important part.
+ I enjoyed Chris and Feng. My favourite moment was the village hand signal disagreement between them. Them getting so caught up in it that Chris almost got blown up amused me. Liked the short return with Mei included toward the end.
+ Liked the Chris vs Feng fight that ended up being western wrestling style fighting vs Chinese martial arts style fighting which was a fun combo.
+ The giant bubble fight was very fun. I love that at one point it devolves into Feng throwing the bubbles in the face and the other guy having to pause to wipe them away.
+ I liked Chris just being 'you want the bag, have the bag' and giving it up no questions asked cause he has his priorities and that's entirely the villagers.
+ Chris watching Feng agile climb the structure and going 'uh no' amused me.
+ I liked that moment during Feng's beam fight when he saves the guy from falling, has to let go when anotber attacks him, apologises and points accusingly at the other guy as the culprit.
+ I also really liked the moment in the fight when Chris and Feng's separate fights converge and Chris saves, and the helps, Feng with the giant pole. That whole sequence was great.
+ I liked the end with them stuck on the cliff and Chris being all 'I have an idea', cut to them screaming for help, hehe.
+ I'm not really sure why Chris cared about the oil heist and was so gungho about being involved but maybe I missed something. I mean sure Owen killed his brother but it wasn't framed as revenge.
+ The movie really failed to make Chris and Henry feel like brothers. Honestly I hadn't even realised after their first meeting.
+ Owen seems to know Chris well so him just murdering Henry like that was so ridiculously short-sighted and dumb. It's not even like Henry had turned against him or was a liability. It was pointless.
+ They should have either cut the 'romance'/flirting with a romance or did something more. Also that whole 'she's hot' was super awkward and weird. Considering he had the journal I figured that he was purposefully messing with Feng but then he seemed genuinely surprised so??
+ Li Yan's bus fight was eh but I like that it was a woman who got the extended fight scene. And that she survived getting thrown out of the windshield and had the quick reflexes to avoid getting hit by the bus, and managed to track it down afterwards. She came off very competent even though she was a very minor character.
+ Did Shen Wei survive? It didn't explode when it went down but I didn't notice if he showed up afterwards.
+ Totally didn't recognize Gong Jun. Apparently short hair = totally different person obviously. But then it was a small role.
