Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 Episode 11

+ I do like Moo-young. I even feel for him. I want him to survive and for the three friends to be together again. But his sad and pitying thoughts as he was dying left me cold. Maybe if his brother's death had played out differently the extremes he's been going to in order to revive him would work better for me? IDK. His regret and remorse and understanding that Yeon (and Hong-ju) were his real family as he lie dying in Yeon's arms was sad but also a little frustrating.
"Where did it all go wrong?" A mystery for the ages! /sarcasm. I'm going to guess it went wrong when he refused to accept his brother's death. And then reacted by murdering his entire mountain! (Which - as a sacrifice to bring his brother back? Dude, fucked up!)
His tearful "I want to live too" had me going well, I think the many many MANY people you've killed in this completely nonsense quest of yours also wanted to live! I'm pretty sure he's the cause of more death then anyone else this season.
"... with not one person to grieve for me, dying here alone." On hand, sure if you push everyone away and don't let anyone in that's what happens. On the other, he knows that Hong-ju cares for him, he knows that Yeon still cares and wants to be friends again, so the self-pity makes me roll my eyes a little. Literally every part of that is on you! And it's not even completely true!
+ This was a great Yeon/Rang episode. Yeon want to just have a quiet last day with his brother making dumplings was very sweet. I loved him getting Rang gold-plated axes so he can look cool as he fights, and just how proud he was of them. I loved the mix of serious emotion and then fun playfulness. Them getting into a water-fight was cute. It may have been the only time Mi-yeon had seen Rang laughing and free like that but we've gotten several of those moments this season.
"Even a splinter in your finger breaks my heart. When I think about leaving you, I feel like I might lose my mind." Awwww Yeon. The hug! Rang begging Yeon to not abandon him. Which ouch. To hear that from Rang, knowing how it hurt and affected him the first time, how will Yeon be able to let go of him now?
+ I loved Yeon placing Yuki and Oogama under his influence and then using it to take out Satori. Very clever. I also liked that he saw through Satori's illusion so quickly.
+ As soon as Yeon sent Yuki and Oogama off with Satori to jump off the building to end their lives I mentally hit my head again my desk a couple times. So dumb! Why would you let them out of your sight before confirming they're dead???? Yeon has killed a lot of demons, he knows how to do it. Just kill them!
+ So I think I might ship Hong-ju/Jae-yoo. I loved their scene together. His devotion to her is lovely but it was her "I won't die easy. How could I die with you holding me?" that made me sit up and take notice. I could be into this.
+ "Because of your pure nature you will lose your way." I had no idea when we first got this prophecy but now I think it's foretelling Yeon not making it back to the future. As in he's literally going to lose his way and get lost in time, and end the season in a different time period. Possibly because of his love/loyalty to Rang? Or his duty to others?
+ Shin-joo and Mi-yeon having become actual friends is just really sweet. I hope he and Shin-joo meet up again in the future. I also love that against his will Jae-yoo has reluctantly grown to care too (even if he won't admit it) and that the others refuse to let him keep his distance.
+ The Kato/Snail Bride scene was very tense. Kato hasn't done a ton but I've been impressed by how intimidating an enemy he comes off as.
+ Considering how strong she is Hong-ju should have taken out Moo-young a lot quicker then he could hurt her. That was not an equal choking situation.
+ Poor Mi-yeon was so sad at the idea that Rang and 2020!Yeon would never see each other. He's grown on me. I like his loyalty to and genuine care for Rang.
+ I knew Moo-young wouldn't get what he wanted (his loving brother back) but I wasn't expecting 'Ho-young' to be a completely different person. The addition of the original evil mountain god as the actual 'big bad' in the penultimate episode would make no sense except that I know there's a third season coming. I wish they'd thrown some mentions of him into this season so the reveal wasn't quite so abrupt.
+ The season started with the potential friendship/allyship between Moo-young and Eun-ho and then completely dropped it. I actually never noticed until this episode but I think that's a shame. I liked their interactions.
+ I keep thinking of poor 1938!Yeon. I wonder if the show is in fact going to have Rang come into the future/a different timeline? Because yay for our Yeon that he gets Rang back but boo for 1938!Yeon who loses his brother. Sure, right now they're estranged and Yeon's a mess but 1938!Yeon is still Yeon! He loves his brother. How terrible for him to lose that future reconciliation with him. I'm disappointed that he ended up playing no role in the season.
