Fringe 2x22 Review

I completely loved it and was filled with squee!
• I love the alternate universe. Fringe division made up of Boyles as the head, Astrid as a cyborg (?!), and Olivia, Charlie and new character Lee as the main team was all awesome. I loved the look of it. I was so happy that Lee survived because in just this one episode I’ve grown pretty attached to him and I want to see a lot more of him. I actually find myself shipping our!Olivia/Lee a ridiculous amount. For some reason I feel like they would just work together really well. They have the same kind of attitude and feel about them. Also Lee is kind of hot.
• Alternate!Olivia is really interesting. She’s so... smiley and casual and... *waves hands* I don’t know how to describe it. Loose? Free? She also seems less – elegant than our Olivia. Certainly not as cool and contained. The dyed red hair was a good look for her but it just reminds me of how our Olivia would never consider dying her hair (and why). Clothing wise it was actually kind of bizarre to see her in that teal shirt. Also bizarre is the fact that she apparently can’t stand the taste of alcohol. This is interesting because everything else can pretty much be explain from Olivia’s childhood but taste – did our Olivia acquire a taste for alcohol than?
• I was definitely expecting Olivia to come face to face with Charlie during the park scene. They have to have at least one in the next episode – and preferably without Olivia having to kill Charlie.
• I wonder what Olivia’s plan was in going to her duplicate? Hold her hostage and tell her the truth and hope she believes Olivia?
• “In the end we have to take responsibility for our own actions the good and the bad.” – Elizabeth. I love the scenes between Peter and his mother Elizabeth. They were just so very well done and I just hope that she survives the finale. But I’m worried. She loves Peter so much and if Walter’s device will kill Peter as it appears it might I can certainly see her doing something to protect Peter. I’m just really hoping that that ‘something’ doesn’t lead to her death.
• It’s interesting that we don’t get any Walternate/Peter interactions in this episode beyond the one shot of video showing Peter agreeing to leave for the other side (even though he could never return). That has to be on purpose. I really wish that we could have seen what happened between the two of them in that hotel room. What the hell did Peter say to his biological father? I can’t even imagine what went on between them in that room and perhaps that’s why we didn’t see it – because neither could TPTB?
• I’m thinking at this point that the device is actually meant to save both universes not destroy them but it needs Peter to power it and in the process it will kill him.
• It’s interesting that TPTB brought back three Cortexiphan children kids and then both talked about and showed their powers, mentioned that Olivia was the strongest kid of all of them, and yet we still don’t know her powers. We still don’t get to see her using them. Hopefully next season will be about Olivia developing her powers and learning how to use them. Considering she’s known about them for over a year now you’d think she’d be working to learn how to control them as well. I want Olivia to have awesome powers!
• While I like that the various Cortexiphan adults we’ve met over the season returned it kind of sucked that all also died. I was especially interested in Olivia’s relationship with Nick (who was very happy to see her).
• With Leonard Nimoy’s announcement that he’ll be retiring from acting it was a surprise to see him show up at the end of the episode. So now I’m pretty sure he’s going to die in the next episode.
• I like how much Olivia seems to trust him but I am a bit confused about why she does?
