+ Lanhua/Qingcang continue to be excellent. A moment that really stuck out to me was when he was reassuring her while she was crying (in ep 8) with his usual 'you're most precious to me' but then he reached out to roughly wipe her tear away. It felt significant. The first time he reached out to physically comfort her in way, idk. But I loved it.

- I really like how we're finally seeing Lanhua get to him, and how he's being to care for her even if he doesn't realise it for himself. His jealousy over Changfeng and the vision, the way he was affected by the kiss, the way he looked at her when she began enjoying the ride on Shangque. Him wanting her to treat him as she did before learning the truth and being so visibly disappointed when she said no was great.

- "I don't want to taste bitterness anymore." Aww, sweetie.

- I absolutely loved Qingcang's dramatic rescue of Lanhua, while declaring her his. A+

- Qingcang making a exact recreation of Arbiter Hall for Lanhua was lovely and I liked how visibly pleased he was by her joy and her returning to calling him Daqiang. Her disappointment when she realised she wasn't really home makes sense though. A beautiful prison is still a prison.

- Lanhua drugging Qingcang to send him off to safety with blankets and treats was really sweet.

+ I'm deeply amused that Qingcang basically nerfed his love rival before he even realised he was a love rival by showing Lanhua Changfeng's meeting with the Emperor and him (desperately lying about) looking down on Lanhua. Again another thing I can dislike - overhearing something and taking it the wrong way - but in this case I mostly find it hilarious.

+ Changfeng erasing Lanhua's memories if their initial friendship was sad. I like that Lanhua's crush has this subconscious basis of him being her first friend. A part of her remembers that and I like that a lot. It all does make me even sadder for Changfeng though because without his brother he could have been with Lanhua, she cared/loved him back, instead of the inevitable loser of this love triangle.

+ Usually I don't like lying and pushing away the person you love to protect them but in this case it works for me because the Emperor is kind of a nightmare. I don't see what other choice he has. Unfortunately the Emperor was clearly not fooled at all; though considering Qingcang absconded with her I don't know how much of an issue that will be going forward.

+ I appreciate where the show has gone with Danyin. I figured jealous love rival and mean girl was going to be where she stayed but then she and Lanhua worked together to fight the yingzhao and after Lanhua risked her life to save them her and her friends were genuinely thankful. I even like that Dan Yin was 'I still don't like you, but I won't bully you anymore' because it makes sense to me. I hope they do become friends. I also liked Danyin actually protesting the sentencing of Yulin to the Emperor. That took guts.

+ Lanhua stepping over the Yingzhao and the reactions to it were hilarious. I like that she 'defeated' it initially by using her book gained knowledge and general kindness/demeanour.

+ Why was Qingcang's hellfire only blowing everyone away instead of disintegrating them? Can he somehow control it to not harm people? Except he had no reason to actively be trying not to hurt anyone from Shuiyuntian. When he set it loose in Haishi City it turned the soldiers into ash. Here no one seemed to die? It's especially weird considering how hard the Emperor seemed to work to protect himself.
