I was surprised that Roman didn't have a bigger role then he did. All the pieces were there for him to be the protagonist, the summary even stated the show was focused on him, but instead it was very much an ensemble. I don't mind that but it did feel off that he wasn't involved in things more considering the situation. We didn't get any resolution on why he has this power or the extent of it. We get Billy seeing the glowing eyes and talk of how powerful he is and then nothing is done with it! We don't even get a big fight between him and the ghosts, and no sign of glowing eyes again and frankly it was strange and disappointing. It really felt like we were left hanging.

The end with Roman taking the meteor artifact and stealing Daphne's body for Maggie and setting out into the world felt so nonsensical on a character note. Doug was super not right about Roman, nothing in the end, even Maggie's warning, made me think he was pushed to his breaking point and it just made no sense. I'm sure if there had been a second season we'd have gotten a different view of what was happening with him but as the note we're left on it is very much a head scratcher.

Father Dan becoming the Whistling Man at the end was also confusing. Very 'uh what????' Also was that still in Port Moore? I did not think there were that many kids left alive! And I have a hard time buying their parents letting them out alone for any reason regardless that all the ghosts are supposedly gone after the shit they all went through!

Maggie stealing Daphne's body did really work for me. I'd never thought of that possibility but it seems so obvious in retrospect. Maggie had never really accepted being dead and I buy she'd jump at the chance for a new chance at life. Plus of all bodies she could get that of a billionaire is an excellent choice.

The whole idea of the four of them leaving their bodies was to fight the ghosts and protect the opening of the gate and yet there was no actual fighting? Or protecting the gate. Or even much of a confrontation? I was kind of left going what was the point of that?

Them setting up their bodies in the church instead if Lambda was dumb. Why the hell would they be so far?

I love that by the end everyone has such a 'ugh these fucking ghosts' attitude. It amused me how casual they got.

Roman being Billy's son was both a surprise and not. I actually thought Roman's father would be revealed to be the McGrath patriarch. I liked their talk where they slowly realised it was a possibility, with the growing awkwardness and Billy running away.

The show had way more death then I was expecting. And disturbing self-caused death on top of that. How many people lived in the town (and worked at Lambda)? 200 to 600? I never really got a good sense of it but in the end only a dozen or two were left. Not much of a town to save there.

I find Norm and, especially Daphne's, fates to be the most disturbing largely because we don't know what happened to them. Norm choosing not to return to his body ended up with it dying but since his spirit was separated does that mean he didn't become a ghost? Did he go into the light? Meanwhile Daphne's body is still alive regardless that she's not in it so does that mean she's doomed to wander unseen, not alive but not dead, until it does die? Yikes.

It deeply bothered me throughout how people would see death coming for someone and just watch instead of taking proactive steps in trying to save them. It happened a lot but the two that stick out as I write this are: 1) Deputy Foon driving over the bridge edge, I felt like Roman could have done a lot more to stop the car then he did. Yell at him to stop, try and grab the wheel etc. 2) Karla's death didn't feel like it had to be inevitable if they'd just acted sooner. They had time to shoot the creature before she picked it up they just didn't for some reason? They didn't try to wrestle it away from her when it was strangling her either. If she'd had black eyes during this scene I'd have been fine with how it played out but as it was she seemed normal and they didn't bother to try and save her.

The whole situation with Karla's pregnancy and her mindfucking Norm was deeply messed up and a well done bit of creepiness. The other one that really got to me was Marilyn and Dottie and how that ended.

I liked how the situation with Abigail and Isobel played out and how the meteor artifact allowed Abigail to take back control of her body. It worked well as a resolution to that whole plot.

I was very intrigued by Isobel and her weirdness and was slightly annoyed that the show never actually did anything with it. The reveal that she and Roman are actually cousins makes it clear that there is something in the McGrath bloodline that makes them sensitive to ghosts/supernatural and I want to know more about that.

The little moment between Val and Edward Clark commiserating over Daphne being the worst was a really cute scene.

I was rolling my eyes at Doug 'stepping up' and taking the position of Sheriff to give back to the community. How big of him to take a role of authority and power.

Doug immediately jumping to 'I was right all along about Roman!' only proved Maggie right. I guess he never did truly change his opinion of Roman and his truce was shallow all along.

How the hell did Val know that Roman was Billy's son? Nadine told her? Honestly knowing that she knew this whole time that Roman was her nephew makes me think a lot less of her. She ran his mother out of town and then basically abandoned him. They had no real relationship. I don't remember her even significantly standing up for him or protecting him from the towns people. What the hell, Val?
