The biggest takeaway is definitely that Olivia had a child that she sacrificed to her future self -- James Cole??? There is no confirmation yet that her child will be James Cole. We don't even know the gender. On the positive - we know that they are stuck in an endless cycle, constantly looping, caused by Olivia. In that context Cole being her son makes a strange amount of sense. It would be a great twist. On the negative - I find it difficult to believe in Olivia having any sort of believable relationship with Matthew Cole as Marian in order to pass off her child as his. Also the mission Cole now finds himself on seems to be set off by his mother (she definitely plays some role) and it's stated goal is to end the endless cycle which I can't see Olivia doing.

If the baby isn't Cole then who is it? At this point it could be literally almost any known character (not Athan, Hannah, Sam). My best guess sans Cole is maybe Deacon? He wanted a role to play in the story. Or since it was future Olivia took the baby maybe it's still a baby? What role are they going to play? Could the be a weapon to be used against Olivia? I'm excited to see where this story beat goes.

The twist that Messenger Mantis aka Vivian Rutledge had lost faith later in life and wanted to prevent Olivia from having and sacrificing her child to The Witness because it was Olivia who was the true believer and was determined to follow The Witness's edict was excellent. Loved that turn around.

Interesting - "ends in the red forest with us. you and I together"

I was really hit this episode by how much Cassie has changed from season one. From her sitting ready to snipe young!Olivia to her confidently going after the man shooting at her to her professional level taking of the Rutledge mansion and her removing her shoelace with the plan to strangle someone, it is a lot! But at the same time upon learning that Olivia was pregnant and under the impression that she was being pressure to sacrifice it Cassie turned so quickly from vengeance murder to wanting to empathising with Olivia and wanting to help her. Suddenly Olivia had a choice and Cassie was willing to put in the effort to save her and give her that choice. I really loved that.

Future!Cole splintering in to save Jennifer was excellent. I loved her joyful relief and happiness. It was a great little moment. I hadn't realised it was Future!Cole until he said so that was a nice little twist.

I liked Jennifer's sad little smile when she told Cole that Athan only wanted to save him. But it's making me wonder again about the middle part Jennifer helped Athan skip. We don't know how much time passed then. I have trust in the show that we are going to get to see what happened during the time but I wonder how it's going to be worked into this season.

I loved Jennifer's little smile when Cole said "I needed to find you" instead of going with Cassie. Because Jennifer is who she is there is always that layer of him needing her primary powers but I like that they've reached a stage where she knows he's also there for her Jennifer because she matters to him.

I liked that Cole's mother's poem was the password to unlock the Ouroboros. Though I was a little disappointed that it only held a location.

I'm guessing that 'the weapon' is Titan and/or control over time travel?

I am happy Deacon survived, yay for that. But also my worry over Deacon's dissatisfaction last season and how his 'abandonment' would be taken has seemingly come true. His anger over being left to his death (even though there was literally nothing any of them could have done in that moment) and his anger at not having a more prominent role in everything playing out combining to be aimed at the other, yikes not good. My only hope is that he was playing Olivia in that moment. Because he has changed and it's not just about his feelings for Cassie as he keeps insinuating. It also makes sense with his advice to Cole in a deleted scene to "play the long game like Olivia". So I'm choosing to believe that is what he's doing.

I liked that Bonham got his curiosity about the ouroboros and James Cole and why they are called The Travellers answered. His reaction to them disappearing was great.

A little disappointed that Olivia killed off Malick. I thought he's have a more important role. Despite seemingly questioning her (and I think he was mainly warning her) he had to be pretty devoted to have been her inside man for so long.
